dollywobbler Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 You really are the best salesman out there. Nothing hangs around for long! egg 1
oldcars Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 That wee k11 looks well for a quick paint of the wheels. Did the same on mine, brilliant wee cars. Got me through all the snow of 2010 no bother. HMC 1
HMC Posted September 20, 2018 Author Posted September 20, 2018 You really are the best salesman out there. Nothing hangs around for long!More of a trade than a sale, full details to follow..... Stinkwheel and Jim Bell 2
Fabergé Greggs Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 It wasn’t me, which brings the usual mixture of relief and disappointment that we all get by on day by day. Jim Bell, Marm Toastsmith and Stinkwheel 3
Exiled_Tat_Gatherer Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 That was just too nice for me to go anywhere near - it's bloody lovely...... I am averse to actually keeping anything pristine.Awaiting the new owners proud shouting and pics of the trade - not the Lexus is it? Marm Toastsmith 1
RobT Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 JohnK, got to be. Just trying to figure out what the swap involves.
vulgalour Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 It could've been me. It wasn't. Sad times.
Jim Bell Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Needles to say, I am not Sparticus either.
barrett Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 It wasn’t me, which brings the usual mixture of relief and disappointment that we all get by on day by day. That's a shame, I was already figuring out what I could swap it for in six months time
HMC Posted September 20, 2018 Author Posted September 20, 2018 All time forum record for a distance swap completion? Thanks Holbeck was great to meet you again! egg, Exiled_Tat_Gatherer, Skizzer and 10 others 13

Zelandeth Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Advice from someone who's owned two Saab's that colour: just leave the thing matt. If you polish it once, you'll spend the next year trying to keep it shiny, which is an exercise in futility. I have no idea what they used in that paint, but it oxidises quicker than the steel used in a 70s Lancia. egg and HMC 2
DVee8 Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 You need to recreate that 1993 photo. jonathan_dyane, michael t, mat_the_cat and 3 others 6
HMC Posted September 22, 2018 Author Posted September 22, 2018 Thinning the fleet out here. I’m literally changing my username to Björn hence this must go. Be ready for the post apocalyptic world by buying this which I guarantee* will still be there and drivable under the rubble of your house. Dig it out, first turn of the key and you’ll be off to start a rebel uprising. 1996 Micra 1.0 3-door petrol manual in red Great runner, drives nicely. Mot to end Feb 2019. New tyres all round. Utterly basic. No pas, no abs no airbag, nowt. Except (aftermarket) parkingsensors which seem OTT as it’s such a doddle to chuck about and park. So much fun to be had Just driving it. Lovely clutch and gearchange, I can see why they were so popular as a first set of wheels. Generally Clean tidy interior and good stereo (a period early 2000s alpine cassette stereo if you wanted to buy an overpriced stereo but get a whole car for free) Heater works but the fan doesnt. Some parking scuffs and age related marks (such as a lot of lacquer peel- see pics mainly roof and bonnet. I took one of the front end with the car mainly dry to show how tired the paint on the bonnet is ) Slight click on full lock from One front corner- suspect worn cv joint? Rustwise seems pretty good, the back end of the outer sill has been welded but the rest of the floors and sills and wheelarches are very good and I’ve cleaned out and dynaxed the rear inner arches as they were very well preserved despite not having arch liners on these and I wanted them To stay that way. If you look on the MOT history it’s been giffer owned since 2005, hardly covered any miles sine then which has saved it from where most have gone. Comes with approx half a tank of fuel.Located Tavistock, Devon and I’d like £150 michael t 1
leanycan Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 Put this on eBay with the words, “bargain find”, in the title and you’ll have people crawling over it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Vantman Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 Enjoy my lovely old 'scruffy Saab',i hope Holbeck told you that it starred in a short film-- Jim Bell 1
HMC Posted September 22, 2018 Author Posted September 22, 2018 Yes indeed, it’s lovely thanks. Lacquer Peel, holbeck, Vantman and 1 other 4
Jim Bell Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 Its a deal. Its a steal. Its the sale of the fackin century mate. loserone 1
Tomtation Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 Bargainous motoring that micra, my sister had two and I frequently borrowed them back along, great little things. Quite a distinctive engine noise, purrrrrs along nicely.
HMC Posted September 22, 2018 Author Posted September 22, 2018 Agreed. Very characteristic. With the bare steel wheels, unassisted (and better for it- it’s certainly never heavy on the standard 155s) and bare bones spec it’s basic transport that has more in common with a 1970s supermini than a 2018 Micra. (Are they still a thing?)
HMC Posted September 22, 2018 Author Posted September 22, 2018 Plus there’s approx half a tank of fuel in it. Never mind taxed to get you home (which it has) it’s also fuelled to get you home and a possibly a bit more. Depends where you live like.
DVee8 Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 When did you move from a Ford fleet to a SAAB fleet?Where did all the Fords go?
HMC Posted September 22, 2018 Author Posted September 22, 2018 Sold/sold/swapped/swapped/swapped. I respect hugely devotees of a single marque, even a single car. Deep down I’d love to be that person. “Owned for 48 years by xyz....” I just know that’s not me. In fact I’m the opposite of that. I’m not saying that’s good, but there it is. Jim Bell, Rave and RobT 3
