  1. Sounds like some good progress! I do like a straight 6, sounds gorgeous and so smooth 😎
  2. Apologies if already covered, I would check out the battery/starter earths for the slow turnover - all of my BXs have had this and it was due to corroded earths, interestingly the MK2s just cleaned up nicely but the MK1s needed new sad cables. Easy to test the battery with a multimeter, or even easier with a battery tester! I love playing with mine 😁 Obligatory glow plug comment, may also be affected by earths or one or two might be knackered πŸ‘ Glad it's generally behaving though, sounds like a good'un!
  3. Fab French content πŸ‘Œ Just had a good read through, driveway envy 🀩
  4. Fantastic thread. I think it was a collection but am genuinely questioning my existence. All I now know is Guinea pigs have holidays, and it's a new year?
  5. Smashing XM content chaps, love the early 2.1 and that wrap is the tits!
  6. Sadly indeed, give me an 80s/90s wedge any day of the week, either are waaaay better than modern SUV blobs. We had a Pug 3008 SUV as a hire car this summer on hols, I've literally never been so bored in a car. 8spd auto 1.5 diesel, DULL AF. Great torque below 2k rpm, which made for great driveability, but fuck all else. Wasn't even that economical, we did about 1000 miles and it was mid/high 40s mpg (under 50 for sure)
  7. Exactly what I was going to say, my BX that had been stood for 15 years had an LHM filter full of black wob. A quick clean out with carb cleaner, dry and reservoir refill made a HUGE improvement on the whole system, rose quicker and had a much more healthy accumulator click time - not sure if this applies to XM's though with their hydractive system. Of course my spheres were also fucked, but they are super easy to change too. I've only ever driven an XM once, a late 2.1 td auto, and the ride was superb - way better than any of my BX's, softer and yet more controlled. So if it's firm still perhaps get the spheres tested if there is anywhere close enough to you to do so, I only know of Pleiades, Westroen and perhaps Chevronics. Keep the pics coming! Bloody love it.
  8. Absolutely love this, best year (MK1.5 I think), good colour, looks really tidy too! If its a manual with velour I'd have your arm off for it 😁
  9. This is pretty much my exact thought process 🀣 tbh I could do without the anxiety BUT do want the GLF bit!
  10. Thanks for the replies chaps, all good info for me. My mojo isn't at its best either tbh but I am full of grot (cold). I'm having terribly naughty thoughts of getting a noob tune ECU for it once the PCV and sump are done πŸ‘Ή
  11. Cheers dude, will inspect those vacuum lines πŸ‘
  12. Today's wins πŸ† Wheel balancing x 4 - much better 😎 EML reset has put a stop to the WOT upchange wobbles, excellent.
  13. OK, so a successful swap has occurred. I swapped my C900 16v n/a for a 220,000 mile auto 9-3 B205E. Its quite different! More refined but less fun, I could really chuck the 900 around and it'd grip like shit. This thing though feels much more bloated and unsettled, hopefully that'll improve with the roof being clamped down properly. Bye bye 900 πŸ‘‹ I've been using the 9-3 over the last week and have made plans. There are a few things I'll want to do before I have confidence to commute in it a few times a week. Hello 9-3! ( Photos stolen fron Alan, previous custodian) PCV system - these early turbos have a reputation for oil sludge, I'm mot sure if this one has had the updated PCV system but it is pretty oily back there! I intend to get the Β£60 kit from NeoBros Sump - again I'm unsure if this has been dropped to check for sludge and oil pick-up restriction, so I will do that. Again NeoBros do a kit with all the seals and gaskets required - Β£150 odd with the above kit too I'm getting a smell of gas/LPG just before it switches over, so will get the LPG system serviced. It also has a wobbly few seconds when the autobox changes up on the rev limit, doesn't do it on pez. Roof - seems partly disconnected, I plan to try and reassemble it and maybe even get it working. The rear doesn't quite clamp down without a bungee or cable tie and the whole roof rattles! One of the 1st things I'll do is to see if it has hydraulic oil in it still. EML - plugged my new OBD into it today, cylinder 3+4 lean condition and a DIC related error. The fuel pump is whining and the idle is a little high, so fuel filter to replace and vacuum lines to check. It runs damn well really though and doesn't feel underpowered for the LPT version. Codes cleared and not returned after driving around town 🀞 I'm trying not to listen to the rattle in the chain region 🀣 It could be the tensioner Autobox fluid, looks a piece of piss to change so why not. Passenger side gearbox or engine mount - got a knock from standstill or sudden heavy acceleration, is not a nice noise so needs dealing with I think! That should keep me busy!
  14. 🀣 terrible quality photo!
  15. As a fellow Lexus Licker I've just read through this whole thread - bloody outstanding team effort that is! I wish I could get my other half interested in this stuff and help with the shite rectification burden... I've not yet listened to the thunder pipe videos as I'm at work - but I'll look forward to that later when I have some privacy 😈
  16. Sad times about the crash, but it does seem a common colour for the MK1 BXs this 'bleu romantique'.
  17. Having enjoyed SF19 so much I am sad to have to miss it this year...
  18. As far as the French fancies go, i'll just leave these here pending an update... (Driveway, caravan and nice house not mine...)
  19. I've spent hours writing this and the damn work computer won't post it, then lost the first 2/3 of waffle about my French fancies. So now I'm editing this on my phone ffs. Anyway, it's been 2 bloody years! Much in life has happened and there has been plenty of life/house/vehicular progress, some of which is posted below. Fucking technology... Volvo 740 Hearse - Much much progress has been made, the engine is almost finished and due to be re-inserted in a few weeks. Things have gotten a little out of hand, I've had the turbo serviced and turned into a hybrid (bigger compressor wheel and ground out casing etc), upgraded the injectors, gasket matched and port/polished the exhaust ports, started gasket matching the inlet ports and manifold, got a buddy to do an ECU/EZK chip and had the 531 'performance' head refurbished. I'm hoping for low 200's bhp wise I'm booked to go to Retrorides Mallory park event in this, so you lot may be exposed to a lunatic attempting to drift a hearse with soft suspension 🀣 Before gasket matching, outrageous. After gasket matching Now I have 3 weeks to do a block gasket refresh, paint and reassemble! I've started... Lexus hybrid - is awesome and still GLF! It is however at an age/mileage where stuff needs doing, tricky stuff like ball joints, wishbone bushes and apparently rusty rear subframes on a 2007 Lexus??! It also uses oil and I don't know why (PCV valve done already). The wishbone bushes I'm pretty sure I can do but the ball joints are supposed to be an absolute fucker of a job, you just cannot get to the top bolt (you need to separate the joint to slide the bolt down through and undo the nut as it drops) and they are so tight that most tools won't split it - that is if you can get the tool in there. Worse, you can't just smack the hell out of it with a BFO hammer, there is no space to swing. So we'll see about those. Saab 900 - will shortly be for sale, I have waaaaay too much on to give it the love and attention (read: welding) it really deserves. However, I have really really really enjoyed it over the last 2 years and will have a convertible again when things are a little less hectic! It has received a lot of love from me but is just so needy, so if you fancy a go I'll do an ad soon. Just know that from a distance it's beautiful, but closer there are many imperfections, the lacquer peel has gotten quite bad on the bonnet and boot too. Keep shiting folks!
