If it was mine I would spend all day driving around at 25mph playing the theme tune to "Assault on Precinct 13" occasionally poking a piece of black pipe out of the window. I can't believe that this is a 1995 vehicle, The styling looks much older than that.
Ratdat Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Japanese Luxury cars often had long production runs. I had this Mitsubishi Debonair for a while and that X reg plate is right... it was a 1982 car despite it's looks. I think this model came out in 1964 and was sold to about 1986.

What happened to it? edit: The vehicle details for HGF 558X are: Date of Liability 01 09 2000 Date of First Registration 15 02 1988 Because it was very rusty and I was up to my ears in projects. I gave it to a fellow who'd gone on about how he'd love to restore it and how cool it was. Later it turned out he'd sold it to a dulux wielding mong who ripped out the beautiful interior and smashed it to shit. Well done
Milford Cubicle Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 But I have to say that´s not a Mk 1 Camry, the first Camry wasn´t available as an Estate, only as a Saloon and Liftback. LThat's right, I completely forgot about the original Camry. Oops.

pogweasel Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I like this.1196cc + 'matic box would be overwhelmingly depressing though.

AnthonyG Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 And a very late model 'scrote as well. Think these late ones were meant to be pretty well screwed togther.Ones built from circa spring 2000 until the end of production were supposedly built to Jaguar's assembly/quality inspection regime as the workers would then move onto the Jaguar X type after Halewood was refitted.
Richard Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 There's no point in screwing it together well if it's made of shit.

Someone save it now!http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TALBOT-MANTRA-RAN ... 56391097deIf only his line about lack of rust due to the plastic body were true. Sadly, the plastic glued to cheap steel equals SERIOUS rust in most cases. Shame as I'd love one...

trigger Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Someone fact check this better than I did: I once read that you can identify a "Jaguar" Escort by its unpainted under bonnet. That's quite interesting as his wasn't painted under the bonnet unlike his last one, it also drive quite nice compared to other mk6 escorts i've driven. It even has an digital mileoneter.
Cavcraft Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I like this.1196cc + 'matic box would be overwhelmingly depressing though. Not as bad as you might think. Certainly wouldn't win any races but they pull away reasonably well and are ace fun to drive.Took mine on motorways, by-passes and all kinds and was never a problem.
