All 2.6s and V8s had Nivomats, with other models having conventional springs and dampers.

Cracking machine!

I had a 3500SD1 manual 18 years ago-PEJ 961S i think.

Nowhere as quick as my orevious P6 3500S.

Nice car though.

Friend had 2 2600's.

First a series 1 w reg in a funny green and the second a lively series 2 B reg in oporto red. Both manual. The b reg one went like the clappers-faster than my 3500-although I think the cams were worn on the 3500.

Superb car trigger- I'd like another but the cost of them has rocketed.

Keep us informed!

Im off to the Welland Stem Show today so will keep a lookout for and SD1's.

Hmm, Nivomats. Never a good word you want to hear if they want changing. From my experience with them on Volvo's they're expensive. Hopefully for these Rovers they aren't but...

Bloody nice car though Triggs, looks great in red and that interior is just gorgeous.

Lovely motor trigger and ok money for decent one I'd day.

I worked on those when they were current and some of those issues are familiar.especially locking.

Lack of use is never kind to a car. My current jag did 2k miles a year and it is a better car for being used more. I'd expect a few grumble to surface in the sort term as it get used to being driven

It looks good enough to lick.

And 1000 times more "Trigger" than a LHD Volvo that just happened to be local.

The Met loved their 2600 mk2s, day to day faster than the V8, and less juicy, nice purchase, nice big boot as well, unlike the P6, shouldn't have probs getting the Twiglet's buggy in the boot of that, unless it is a vintage Silver Cross pram LOL

What I will say is this - if the car is to live outdoors you will have to smother it with TLC otherwise it will deteriorate quickly.

New Nivomats are now NLA. The SD1 Club are having a batch made by Boge in Germany.

They will be expensive, circa £700 a pair...

I only found one SD1 at Classic Silverstone today and that was a Vitesse with a lot of air over the rear wheel, it looked like the cars natural stance.

As you said, it will benefit from a lot of use after doing such a low mileage. I warn you, a lot is likely to break as it starts to be used again so make sure that Breakdown cover is up to date.

Looks lovely though, very jealous.

I thought that but apparently that's normal for a SE, Someone recommended Vitesse springs to lower it which I might well do.

It's not normal for an SE. What it normally means is that someone has removed the Nivomat units and replaced them with the boggo springs and shocks from a 2000.

Vitesse also had Nivomats at the rear, Nivomat springs don't work with boggo shocks.

Basically, someone was too cheap to replace the Nivomat units.so it's lost the self-levelling.

I've just been back to see if the car was still on the forecourt and it was so had a look at the rear shocks.

I'm guessing that's just a normal set up?. I'm bit happier now I've had another look at it, the underside is remarkable solid and the sills are like new as well as under the arches. The roof has been over polished though and down to the primer on the edges so will need paint as well at the top of the tailgate.

I also need to find a pair of front tow eye covers.

Why is that old heap of crusty crap blocking the view of that lovely red mid-2000s Swindon built Japanese designed machinery?

The underside looks to be in remarkably good condition. Very pleasing.

That's a wedge of purest magnificence, that. I love the BL dealer plates, too.

I'm collecting it Saturday morning. It's only 1/2 hour away so no stories of heroic collections, hopefully!
