1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel Auto, £700

A friend of mine is selling his 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  It's a 3.1 diesel auto with working air con, leather and hideous fake wood, about 190,000 on the clock but I believe it's had a recon engine in the past.  He's owned it about 4-5 years, it's got about 10 months' MOT and had a whole heap of work done at the last one, recently serviced as well.  He keeps his cars very clean and tidy, it's in pretty good condition without much in the way of marks or scrapes that I remember.

I have driven it and it's very boat-like, was a bit wonky on the tracking but that was all sorted for the MOT, went well enough and the air con was re-gassed about 6 months ago.

He is after £700 for it, no idea if that's a good price or not, I'll try and get some photos off him if anyone's interested.  It's in North Devon (EX38 post code), I could possibly help with delivery depending on various dependings.

Edit: I now have photos!

Edited 7/6: He's finally replied with the price: £700 and photos of the actual car.  It's also on eBay:

I thought he was taking the personal plate off but it's staying with the car.  It's had it since new apparently.

WANT!

Do you think he would be extatic with an offer of 400 ponds on the basis of it being far away?

Love to see some pics but has no 800 ponds.

On that basis, I live in Wick and bid £100.

If you chuck £50 into the pot, you've hit the price between you and can share it.  That should work out well for everyone.

Cant comment on the diesel but have a 4.0L (with LPG thank god) and I love it.

Had a Discovery previously and much prefer this.

Yes the wood is naff, but got a lot of creature comforts and has been very reliable.

3.1 engine I think, 5 headed VM monster!

Indeed - I test drove one back in the day before buying a 4.0 pez instead - always liked mine.

I had no idea these could be had in five pot flavour. That's desirable.

I recall it goes well enough, I borrowed it for 2-3 weeks last year while I couldn't drive a manual.  The usual American driving experience, rolls like a galleon, lazy auto box, incredibly vague steering but it seemed to go well enough.  I did not know it was a 5 headed monster, that's brilliant.

Still awaiting further details at the moment.

My bro says nada, but have a bump anyway.

No worries, I haven't heard back from the owner yet, he's gone silent.  I will give him a nudge.

Correct.  He would end the auction early if someone turned up and offered him £700.

Wilson Wilson has 400 ponds to offer.

If I turned up and offered the seller Amy Pond. would that clinch the deal?

Such SVX rebuild means no spare ponds ATM.

I believe he already has a pond, therefore it's probably not going to swing the deal.
