NEW New new new New top gear ON HOLD, RIP?

It seems quite reverential so far. It would go against the grain of the tone so far if they modded them and then ejected them into a quarry. But it wouldn’t surprise me.

Funny enough a MK4 Cortina is what my dad had until I was about 12

That haircut makes him look like he’s from a 90s boy band.

Ok. So how long after I got bored and gave up did the three cars get inevitably trashed for laughs?

They all survived intact! I really enjoyed that episode, and love the 323i!

Both the Fords are MoT'd and registered as white, the Beemer's MoT ran out in December.

And apparetnly I'm sad for looking that up. WOTEVS

Used to look like this when it appeared at the car cave.

Just watching on iplayer. I wouldn't kick any of them out of bed, but as my dad had a T-reg Jupiter red MK4 with a black vinyl roof...that one.

I was unfortunately listening to Radio 1 yesterday morning (not my choice, we have a couple dumb guys at work) and a caller (snowflake) rang in complaining of Flintoffs comment he made about Radio 1..... “makes my ears bleed that does”

Well said Freddie. Well said.

When I was a kid my dad had a market stall in Cambridge,  in the holidays I used to go with him in the VW van

We'd listen to radio 2 all the way but , at a set time , 7am or 8am radio 2 would turn into radio 1 , sometimes it was a whole 10 minutes of decent music before he noticed and re-tuned it

I never got to pick the station

I occasionally listen to radio 1 to see if it's still as bad , awful , like music is just about the beat.

Thankfully technology means I rarely listen to the radio , I like Ken Bruce but the music is still awful for the most part , here the new one from Cliff /bonnie tyler/ some other 70s old fart

FFS there are thousands of really talented musicians who deserve it more than most of their playlist , give some of them a chance

A new series of Top Gear airing on Mothers Day... went down very well in our house.

This just popped up on Facebook

He did seem genuinely quite emotional about it. In fact, they all did - all very contemplative, even McGuinness.

Bloody good show that one, no daftness, no cars damaged, pure nostalgia.

This week's should be good too - James Bond's motors

Thought it was really good. No damage to cars, just an enjoyable hour. Looking forward to next week.

Two episodes. Two T reg MK4 Cortinas!

I have watched it for two weeks in a row now, mainly for this reason. It seems to have improved immeasurably. I may continue watching, it is far better than it has been for several years even if they do not continue the Cortina content. The blue L used  in today’s episode was sold at the last ACA.

That resto-mod Alfa was fucking tremendous. I think it is my fantasy car now. I could have watched Harris drive that for hours.

Noticed quite a lot of people complaining about the production team chopping up R11s for a bit of a laugh. I think it is a bit of a shame because they looked like pretty solid, usable classics but at least they were French imports rather than much more valuable RHD ones

First time I've watched this since the original presenters left.

My only regret is they sacked off Antiques Roadshow for this garbage.

Sorry to those who like the show now, but I think that was the most painful hour I've spent in a while. Never again.

I really enjoyed watching that.

that restomod  Alfa was awesome!

im SLOWLY beginning to like electric motors too.,

As much as I enjoyed that Alfa, I’m growing weary of Paddy and to a lesser extent, Freddie. The fact they are not from a motoring journalistic background really dulls their impact. What Paddy thinks of a tremendously expensive Ferrari contains no context. Meaningless to me.

His overt nature and confidence is at odds with his knowledge. I suppose Flintoff is at least a fairly humble chap in comparison.

Im sure I’m wrong, but I also don’t fully believe those two are actually at the wheel at certain points of some of the sketches. Perhaps I’m just too sceptical.
