Autoshite national "drive shite to work day" 2017

Well, you get drive it day etc...

Thinking ahead to next year, it's got to be a warm month.

How about Wednesday June 21st?

It could work as your 2017 New Years resolution to get your stalled restoration/unfinished project on the road, gives you a deadline and 6 months to do it.

Best picture of you driving on the day can be June's calendar photo?

Waddya fink?

I would say I always drive shite to work, but since a 2003 Laguna is practically brand new, I suppose I don't.

It would be great to have a deadline to have my Beetle running again but - as with most deadlines in my life - I will probably miss it.

but surely hard core shitter do it every day?

saying that, it is an idea with merit, assuming i've not binned off (or just swept it off the drive with a brush) the metro in a fit of pique, than it would also serve as a deadline for getting the body work sorting....

For those of us who do drive shite perhaps we could find something different/unusual way of getting to work?

yes, poor little things not been touched in weeks,

the rotten weather, and the council spreading salt liberally everywhere means that it is sat under a breathable cover till the weather picks up.

I drive my shite to work every day.

Infact since I've been involved in level 3 shite (90s French chod), which is nearly 5 years now, there's been maybe 3 days that one has failed to get me to work, usually caused by some common easily fixed issue.

Im sure some of the hardcore level 1 shiters will be up for it, but the day mentioned above will be a normal day, I might try and get parked at the office though and get a picture

Laguna cancels out brand new.  Them's the rules.  So it's still shite.

This is a tough one for me, I step from my kitchen into my office.

There is no possible conceivable way I'm getting the Mini on the road by then sadly, still saving to buy the welding gas!

My shite is trying to earn me money. As well as taking me to paid employment

If the weather allows then I commute on one of my elderly scooters, otherwise it's the BX or the 205. No need for a special day here.

Iirc, the beeb ran a tv ad for bbc radio where either Phil Jupitus or Chris Moyles had the same commute, starting at home and ending in his studio, at home.

Take a break from the norm? Come out and mix with the masses for one day? This appeals muchly to me - but I've always been receptive to calls to arms such as this - 'get out and show Audiman we can still cut it', 'drive your shite with pride' etc etc

On second thoughts, I find travelling during rushhour so thoroughly unpleasant, nay even dangerous, that I encourage you to NOT venture out in any of your fine conveyances during the bedlam that is the school run. It's how I keep a (slender) grip on my sanity...

Never mind,it was just an idea. Driving a 12 year old car isn't what I meant, I was thinking of giving people a reason to get their unfinished projects back on track

Monday I commuted in a skoda with no alternator

Yesterday my p38 with the exhaust falling off

Today in my 58 p4 with homemade fan belt

I was setting myself up for something more challenging

I've got something with a seized engine that runs on wooden wheels I want to get on the road

I do have to go out sometimes in commuter time and hate it, I avoid it when ever I can. I like driving different cars so while circumstances often dictate what car I use I generally drive classics in the summer and shiters in the winter.

Mrs 6C has a daily commute using the M40 and tends to stick to one car, at the moment that is the ZX TD estate but in the summer the Alfa 156 V6 sportwagon was favored for its cold aircon. Insurance dictates that she cannot commute in the proper classics however we have the Daimler Sovereign S2 on normal insurance so she has used it during the summer from time to time.

Reliant is my daily. Summer is easy, no hacking at ice inside the screen

Well, I ain't sure what I'm going to be doing by then, but my BMW is pretty newish, but then I don't drive it to work, ever as I've usually got a car/van to deliver anyway. However as I said, I'm unsure what I'll be doing by then.

A "Drive Non-Shite to Work Day" would be less normal.

Although, like most members of this forum, I'd have to hire a car for it.

When I had new company cars at least I worked in the Motor Trade I got a new one every 3 months, but even that was not enough and I got so bored with my new cars when I had some rank I would get some old PX out of the yard to go home in that instead!
