New Car - Is it shite?

So as the Granada has now officially been exported and is safely tucked up at Autoshite International HQ, I had a spare parking space. I got a phone call a couple of days after getting back offering me a car, it had 3 weeks MoT, had the EML on and was running on 3 cylinders but was only £200 so I of course bought it.

Its the Winter edition so get the colour coded hard top and heated leather seats.

I picked it up from the local garage and limped and spluttered my way home. Tried to open the door to find that it doesn't work from the inside.

Plugged in my code reader and there was a fuel injector problem. Changed Injector No1 and cleared the stored code. Took doorcard off and reattached plastic clip. In for MoT on Wednesday - total cost so far £223 which makes a nice change after the Granada 😂

Worth more in parts than what you paid for it..... That is Shite in my book....

Clear up an argument please.does the winter edition have a soft top? I was 99% pulling the trigger one one until that bombshell.kinda defeats the purpose of taking a soft top on holiday. Was this one in Edinburgh?

I was totally unaware they did a hardtop version of the StreetKa and it's not that offensive to look at either.  Much like the Peugeot 306, it looks well proportioned as a hatchback and even better with the roof lopped up and decidedly unoffensive with the hard top on.

Absolutely shite.  Surprisingly good looking removable hard top version of rust prone hatchback that hardly anyone knows about and has zero market value.

Yes it does have a soft top.

Bit off a faff having to store the hard top when not in use. Previous owner purchased it from Saline Motors in Dunfermline and I believe she used to work in Edinburgh.

Dealer must have had very salty prices :P

Well the sad news is it needs a thorough tickling which I'm not funding after the Granada so looking at breaking or selling as an Isles car (they don't need MoT or Tax). Shame as it's a cracking little car

Sadly, I suspect that my 1:18 scale example will out-live most of the real ones.

So the abuse I took off an eBay seller who made out I was a thicko was undeserved. Your loss as I'd already sorted my train out...

Roffle?

Rust prone, shit, rare, Ford. It's got the makings of a good investment. Keep it locked up in a barn for when OSF tax kicks in. Be better than money in the bank!

The vin will be worth £££££ in years to come. I take it it is rusty?

Anyway how is the granada? Ours is tucked away for the winter.

Thats brilliant given the Ka's frilly reputation; are they next door to Sparkes, Smoke and Sons, the Renault dealers?

I was considering a red one of these when the Smart sold. Am leaning towards just buying the C5 X7 tourer after all somehow.

But can I bag 42 and 54 for the Roffle since people keep beating me to those numbers :D

There wouldn't seriously be interest in a roffle would there? The MoT runs out on 11th November so would have to be quick plus I could only throw it on the boat unaccompanied as I'm working so it would need collecting from the ferry terminal

Granada is fine after being shipped over. Sourced replacement headlight glass from a LHD so will be getting the KAT and re-registering it on Bulgarian plates next time we go over

Do these rot as bad as the normal KA's then? Weren't they made in a different factory? Been eyeing these up of late

Dibs for picking it up from the ferry terminal! I can then take lots of arty photos of it next to Torry battery before shoving it into the harbour handing it over to its winner.

A guy in work (Honda Swindon) drives one in everyday from Birmingham so they can't be that bad I suppose.

Especially when you can get a lease Honda at discount!!!!

Wheels/front bumper and hardtop probably worth well over double the asking price, 1.6 was a thirsty beast and I think a bit rich on the tax but a good solid motor, good fun too drive as well.

Ahhh torry battery, used to love kipping there off nights in my transit van, get up about 4 o clock and have a piss out of the side door waving at the folk on the ferry.

Good* times.

Transit van/rotten floor/ne Scotland in the winter time (which was actually late summer/Autumn anywhere else), very character building. But then, as the oil prices were over $100 a barrel and I worked in paper accommodation was way out of my price range, I once got quoted £380 a week for a guest house up in Stoneywood, how I laughed, until I rang round all the others to find that was cheap!!!

Some mental money bouncing round there about 4/5 years ago, some great cars too.

Got offshore then so only up occasionally and haven't been back for a couple of years now, nice city actually, people were very friendly too me and I never felt unsafe.

Worth a visit but only in summer as it gets really COLD!!!

Our local Vauxhall dealer used to be called Reekie Motors.

Is this in Fife? I know a good / stupidly cheap welder in the area who could get it through a ticket.

I also drive fife - aberdeen every week to see my missus if you need it driven up the road.
