Vin Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 I went to the 'Humber Bridge classics night' on Friday night. It's an informal, once a month, gathering organised by the EYTCC (East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club) and it was the last one of the summer so it was a good attendance... http://www.eytcc.org.uk/socialevents.html I took the MK1 Panda, although I went to the event on the 8th July and took the 900T van. I did do a write up for that night and posted the pics, but it appears to have been lost in the great forum flood of 2016... There were loads of old motors there, but I have picked out those that will appeal to shiters... My Panda... This had a badge that said '1400 GT'... Squire_Dawson, Magnificent Rustbucket, Aston Martin and 21 others 24
danthecapriman Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 That looked a good show, lots of variety. Pick of the bunch for me would probably have to be the black Zodiac. mercrocker 1
Vin Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Seeing as the thread I did about the 8th July gathering has gone, I'll post those pictures again... So, Humber Bridge Classics night, 8th July... Lotus was the actual car on the magazine covers... Nice Morris Oxford Traveller... 1980s sunroof disaster... Strada cabrio belongs to a mate. He and his Mrs were there again on Friday night... Magnificent Rustbucket, mouseflakes, pshome and 9 others 12
Ghosty Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 What a selection! Zodiac or stacklight Benz coupe for me.WTF are the wheels on the Horizon? edit: a Pizza and a Pao! Nice.
purplebargeken Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Tons of lovely stuff! That black Zodiac was gorgeous. I did like the Toyota camper though.
purplebargeken Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 The yellow BT van was ace too Thanks for the piccies
danthecapriman Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 WTF are the wheels on the Horizon? Fucking hideous! Pick from the July meet has to be the Pontiac, or the purple velvet mk3 Cortina.
Vin Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 I went to this on friday night. It was the second one of the summer. I missed the first one, which was last month, but apparently the turn out wasn't great due to crap weather. So I trundled along on Friday in the 900T van. It's 5 til 9 and no entry fee or membership requirements and a come and go when you want... I didn't get a lot of pictures as my camera batteries went...but... a few cars have been in previous updates...(I didn't even get a picture of the van surrounded by MGBs and Stags and the like...) I loved this... IT'S 25 YEARS OLD!!!!...great colour too... This was GRIM. It was some shit Seventies Ford custom that has somehow survived...the tax disc in it was from 1988 and said 'Ford'...That's the only way I knew what it was... Squire_Dawson, Mr Laurence, HillmanImp and 12 others 15
danthecapriman Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Nice. That little 106 looks exactly like one I used to do work on. Same colour and age, it was a little old lady that drove it. I wonder if it's the same one as there cant have been many of that age and colour around even back then. Vin 1
Vin Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 The 106 is a local car as it has a Hull registration number (RH), so hasn't ventured too far in the way of ownership during it's life. danthecapriman 1
alcyonecorporation Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Looks like a decent event. Annoyingly it's just that bit too far for me to cover on a school night. I love and hate 'Seventies customs like that Capri in equal measure. It's not my thing at all, but I'm delighted it's survived as so many didn't. We'll be getting nostalgic for those horrific Max Power abortions in 10 years time, mark me words. Not seen that Piazza HBL before. Will have to investigate. RobT and Magnificent Rustbucket 2
Vin Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 Went again to this tonight. It was busy as it's the last one of the seaon and it's a nice evening. I took the 126 this time. It was MOT'd last week after I spent the last month or so doing a gearbox swap. The 126 next to a 205... This was nice. I liked this. South African... This was great condition... Scirocco was for sale... Twiggy, richbraith, Spottedlaurel and 10 others 13
Dave_Q Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Looks like a good meet, plenty of variety. Your man there with the Scirocco seems to have put one zero too many on his sign though. HillmanImp 1
richbraith Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Looks good. Wish I'd known about this before as it's an hour's drive for me. Next year my Tipo may be up to scratch for it!
tul66 Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Good God, a Strada Cabrio in the wild! I've had 4 of them in the past. I've got a few bits left from the 2 I broke if your mate needs some stuff.
Vin Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 I went to this tonight. Big turnout as you'd expect with the weather we've been having. I also went to the previous two in which I went in my 900T van and then my Panda 750L. If the weather is good you can always expect a few hundred cars... Tonight I took the Panda 4x4 Sisley. I met my mate and his Mrs, again in their Strada cabrio. (Everybody asks "Is it a Golf??"....No...) Fire Engine was originally from 'Angus'... I read something during the week about the odd shaped mirrors on these and here where those mirrors 'in the flesh'... My Panda Sisley... I'm no Ford licker, but this was Stunning. Early. Hull (KH) registration and 'Crystal Ford' plates and dealer stickers... There's always loads of Minis there but this was the best. Because it's Italian!! There was a hell of a lot more that missed my camera. These are great events. Recommend. Skizzer, Scruffy Bodger, Aston Martin and 9 others 12
DSdriver Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 None of the Humbers were being bridged... good mercrocker and Squire_Dawson 2
Aston Martin Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 I will occasionally wander to the EYTCC in Cott, I get annoyed when people turn up in standard mk4 Golf Base models...
Squire_Dawson Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 None of the Humbers were being bridged... good That's initially how I read the title... panic over, I R DISAPONT no Humbers were in evidence, on the Humber. There is a Humber museum in Hull I need to see. Anyway, beezer, great photos from one of my favourite parts of the Kingdom.
bezzabsa Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 some gorgeous cars there... Love the 3 door 'tina..
MorrisItalSLX Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 IMG_0091.JPG Excellent number plate on the Toyota!
DSdriver Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 I get annoyed when people turn up in standard mk4 Golf Base models...Hey this is Autoshite, you can't admit things like that here
Twiggy Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Thank you Vin. Absolutely fascinating, some fantastic cars there.
Spottedlaurel Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Some nice stuff there Vin. Enjoying threads like this after I've had to miss various meets and shows this summer for various reasons.
mercrocker Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 I rarely do shows now - they never seem to be of this quality....Great stuff, looks like I am definitely last in the queue for that Zody, though!
Aston Martin Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Hey this is Autoshite, you can't admit things like that here I need to be on the gate telling people to piss off.
