When you wake up I expect the Rancho will have relegated the BMW to the trailer overnight.

View from the Senator once loaded and ready to go. I wasn't much use on that front, but I did supply sandwiches and cake later on.

After having a cuppa in the 1066 cafe we sat in the Rancho and had grub, whilst admiring the interior fittings and fiddling with the switchgear.

Skizzer then gave me the task of finding the oil dipstick, of which I failed at. He doesn't know either yet, any ideas?

There is much Rancho-related envy here at Chez Chodweaver. PLUS it sports a plate that counts as personalised for my brother, containing his exact initials, in the right order, even. Bearing in mind that he has long since sold his soul and despite being shockingly financially comfortable, has a silver Golf FSI as his only motor, I will be a strong contender if the Rancho of our collective dreams comes up for sale or roffle, so that I can gift it to him with brotherly love, because:

He would be thrilled*

It should be on the front of the engine, a bit left off centre. It has a big electric connector on top, similar to Granada MKII V6, that's maybe why you don't identify it as a dipstick.

Note to self:  Skizzer can Woollard to the height of a small teenager.  Long Skizzer is long.

Nice arse and seemingly very flexible.

ATCNBE!

You have a cebora welder ? I look forward to reading your posts in the GOM thread about poor wire feed , wire welding into the tip then turning into a birds nest around the feed motor 😄

We liked the 1066 Cafe (on the A21). It used to be an Austin dealer - the lady came out and gave RobT some old photos and had a chat. These days it's more a biker hangout, sort of an Ace Cafe South.

Are Ceboras shit, then? I'd heard they were OK. I've got it now, so I guess we'll see - I think my (so far non-existent) welding skills will be more of an issue than the machine.

I had a Cebora 130 in BOC livery........was a marvellous thing for about 20 years when it just got a bit worn out. Others report they are absolute shit.

Back in the day PC reckoned they were the best available.

No idea the one you have got is like though.

Helpful eh?

My experience with Ceboras has been terrible . They also make welders for Snap on .

The wire feed seems very feeble to me . My clarke 100e is a much more reliable welder thats for certain .

There is nothing more annoying than a welder that wont do as it should , esp when learning .

I like the fact that you sat in the rancho to eat your dinner, while probably getting funny looks of curios folk. There only jealous cos they haven't got one. My kids sat in my lads Honda prelude, what he picked up from bob the beard yesterday. My little lad was made up with the pop up headlights.

Nice to know the Prelude is in the extended fold. I know Mikeknight (who bobthebeard got it off) would love to read updates on it, he does miss that car.  He and bobthebeard can likely answer any questions about it between them too.

The prelude is great. The insurance is proving a pain for him. He has been quoted £400 more than his 2.0 turbo Volvo s80.

3,24 and 49 please.

(Broker on the telephone always best in these cases. Good luck !)

Hopefully I didn't bore Skizzer so much that he falls asleep on the rest of his journey

Spotted at Sarn, one is a battered old thing owned by an idiot, the other is a Rancho

(I have only just realised the Rancho is the same age as the Land Rover)

I identify as a dipstick, HOW DARE YOU BE SO PRESUMPTIVE.

Had a BOC badged one too back in nineteen canteen. Mate picked up a Cebora badged one cheap through word of mouth that had little use and I've got a Snap-on labelled one with a eurotorch on it. Wirefeed consistent on a 3m line if keep reasonably straight.

Still have to rig up the unused Lincoln in the shed 'borrowed' from Eddie Honda Snr to see what it is like on wafery thin French tin...

We made it home.

The (excellent) trailer has been returned unscathed to my new friends at Indespension. As with Rob yesterday, it was grand to have a good chinwag with Anonymous User - makes me feel like I've been away on a proper road trip with mates.

It's going to be a weldathon. I think Junkman and Conrad have a rubber stamp for this :-)

What a magnificent golden brown thing it is!

with all that brown surely theres no frown..

Maybe one or two - mainly at the texture like rust.

I'm not sure Skizzer's pockets are that deep - they can barely contain his telephone.

An impressive, gutsy purchase, but even a gymnast would be proud of the Woollarding.

Timewaster: Love it, proper LOLs at that.

Wuv: Definitely phone - wallet took one look at the underside of the Rancho and ran away and hid. Rob and Anon had to buy the teas.

Ha! Anonymous User did offer me the world's largest roll of gaffer tape in case I fancied giving it a go at an MOT.

Realistically, don't hold your breath. I'll probably start by dismantling the interior while taking lots of photographs and labelling everything, then remove some black plastic bits and see where we are.

Probably need some sort of tilter or rotisserie: bit concerned that the top half will tilt and the bottom half will stay on the ground. I can see my early welding efforts being to fit some bracing bars across the door apertures and stuff.

Will also give it a bit of a service so it starts and runs more happily. Rob the Shed reckons it sounds like it's only running on three; I think that's just what Simca 1.5s sound like.

The real Rancho is sublime but MAN ALIVE what I would give for that green camperised scale model Rancho 1!!!!1!11!1!1!
