Adrian Flux broker going bust, worth checking...

Apparently so.

Sorry I'm not usually one for starting  a new thread for the sake of starting a new thread, but I am informed that the above are folding. So if you have your shite insured through them you might want to double check this situation.

I used to be a loyal AF customer but their quotes went sky high, once I even laughed down the phone because I was lost for words, and they once mis-quoted me and then argued the toss until I produced the quote in writing from them, never heard back from them after that, not even an apology.

edit*  It looks like only one or two of their underwriters and not actually Adrian Flux as a business.

I believe they are a broker rather than underwriter, so a policy would normally be underwritten by someone else and shouldn't be affected; however it would probably be wise to check, especially if a recent renewal, to make sure that they have passed the premium on.

They don't have the best reputation but I have always had good service and stupidly cheap policies from them. I have two with them at the moment.......

Where did you hear this from out of interests? I have had a quick search and can't find any mention of it, the website is up as normal.

Also, name your source because I can't find anything about this online.

Make of it what you will, just a heads up in case it is true.  The source was from the MG and R75 forum.

SO its not Flux but a Flux underwriter.

Shame, I HATE flux.

Always insured my old chod through Flux, always pretty good at prices. Never had to claim from them mind.

Heard they can be a bit of an arse when this occurs ,

Two out of my 3 are insured by them and haven't heard anything.

Nor me, but as its only an underwriter then only a tiny fraction of their customers will be affected. Worth checking to see who your underwriters are though just in case.

I don't know if it's the same company but the insurer that work was with last year went bust recently.  We would have been properly fucked if we were still using them as our insurance premium is bigger than our profits.

I've discussed this on the FB group i run, basically its Midas who are a underwriter, FJ are contacting everyone who has a policy with them to make arrangements, if you haven't had a call yet then you soon will but although you'll still be insured at the moment you will have problems if you need to make a claim.

Don't forget if you are one of the lucky winners you now have to say yes to the "have you ever had insurance cancelled?" question, just so they can bum rape you more.

I've used them for years, and also have a policy with them at the moment. They've always been great with me, and very competitive at renewal time. Good to hear they're not going pop!

I think anything posted so far that is misleading/wrong should be pulled down pronto.

I heard about Enterprise, because it affected some in Ireland.

Does Midas not just write business in the UK on behalf of Enterprise? If so it wouldn't be appropriate to tell porkies about them either.

Other than the posts about it in the news section on the right hand side... ;)

Ah yea...

it hasn't been cancelled, they just won't honour any claims against it.

and so it is cancelled. IF the insurers are known not to be honouring claims (especially 3rd party) then the insurance is null and void - aka cancelled. It doesn't matter if it was cancelled intentionally or not, it's still cancelled.

The only question is how the other insurance companies will look at it when they ask if you ever had a policy cancelled. I expect many will see the light and realise they can't penalise the customer but there will be others rubbing their hands together with glee.

Nope, not the case, it has not been cancelled they have gone bust it's VERY different and giving the wrong information could potentially cost people a lot of cash if they wrongly declare they have had insurance cancelled when asked.

If you are on holiday and the company goes bust, the holiday isn't cancelled it just doesn't finish as expected. It may seem a small point but could potentially cause folk a lot of hassle. Having your insurance cancelled means that you have done something wrong, such as failing to declare a conviction etc and means you will get properly stiffed come renewal time. Having the bad luck to choose the wrong company is not the same thing in any way shape or form.

Just been and checked after seeing this thread, the Mercury is with Flux, but it seems mines Markerstudy insurance. So should be ok.

I had my insurance cancelled back in July 1994 when I traded my Cavalier 2 for a 944S & Direct Line wouldn't cover it.

I still answer the question 'Yes' much to the bemusement of the tele-quoting person.
