BX 19RD Estate - Handover Day!

Before I release this “BX of many†back into the wild I feel obliged to offer it here first. I suspect those who want to own it have already done so but you never know. It will come on the Picasso wheels (picture shown), as I am going to keep the 16v for my BX GTi.

Fully running MOTed until the 4th March 2017 and ready for any long drive. I was reminded today that the throttle cable feels a bit sticky but works fine, when a replacement cable turned up from WilsonWilson that will be included.

I can’t really think anybody does not know this car but in case you don’t it is a 1988 Citroen BX 19RD Estate in Magnetic blue. It has done 163,000 miles and is scruffy to look at.

I now have a new V5C in my name.

It owes me £300 which I would like to get back for it. Collect from Buckingham MK18, I can help with collecting you from the station etc and if it needs to get anywhere near Edinburgh I could be temped to drive it up for a return train ticket home.

Valu right there for a fully MOT'd iconic estate, I assume being non turbo this has the 'soft' spheres and is very magic carpet-y?

I remember it as being a bit hard on the back end so maybe the spheres need changing if they are supposed to be soft.

Yes non turbo.

I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE.

I can't think of a car that suits the persona you put across on this forum any better.  Get it done!  Partial collection assistance available.

LP, how much would you want for your van with a fresh test on it?
There's a small chance I know someone for it down here.

Lucas pump though...

I can't see how that's a problem as it will top 50 to the gallon surely.

£550 ovno to a shiter of friends of shiters. It's a bit cosmetically challenged in a used van with 170k on the clock way, but it's a solid workhorse.

That's a good price for the Caddy, LP, and he does like them, but he's decided the next step from his 106D is something a bit taller to cope with the regular floodings around here. I showed him Red5's Disco, and he went all googly eyed (really fancies a Landy), but that's well over his pay grade. The half-hearted search continues - sorry.

Meanwhile, I agree that this BX needs to head to the far north for a bit. Perhaps offer 6-Cyl a cheeky p/x on it - he seems to take anything on :D

It's already been to South Shields and Guisborough, but after FIVE DAYS decided it needed to go back south again!

By "far north" I mean PROPER NORTH, as in L.Peel north.

Even with the HIDEOUS wheels you're inflicting on this car that's a bargain basement price!  GLWTS

Do want, cannot has.

I must concede, it does look bloody awful. Between us, hadn't we actually managed to finally find a set of the correct wheel trims for this car? Though I always quite liked it on the Xsara trims.

Posted

It does look unfortunate on those wheels but a set of steels and trims can't be too hard to track down.

Posted

I would 100% have this if it wasn't for those horrible wheels.

Surely a cheap set of more suitable boots can be found, or even the full donor for the correct price still?

i am up for a mega collection if this bloody bug finally subsides and allows me to venture further than my property boundaries :-P

I really would love this but our perilous finances at the moment demand a modern veg plodder like the Caddy, it just works. Wish I could keep two vehicles.

I bought some proper trims off a BX forum member, but thought it made the car look even scruffier so kept it on the Xsara ones. I did pass them on with the car though.

Here's a pic on the day I collected it back in September 2011. This car started me off in the whole buying unseen off ebay thing. Paid £397 so it's probably the only BX around that has decreased in value. Four and a bit years in the AS fold 'aint bad, so maybe it's time to release it back into the wild!

steels off a fiesta

Unlikely to fit sadly.

There's plenty of PSA wheels here (Malham-ish) for the lucky new owner, sure we could sort summert out.

Yeah, Ford offset is all wrong for the BX.  Some SAAB wheels drop straight on in theory, good offset and whatnot, can be expensive to do.  PSA wheels are the way forward, they're usually nice and cheap.

Seriously though someone buy this.  It's a BX estate with a great interior for £nothing.

There are some wheel trims with the car and all the spares I was given. Good s/h front wing, lots of headlights, front flashers, new brake discs, dashboard, boots, switches etc. I am only going to keep the workshop manuals as I still have a BX. Also I may separate the spares off if it is sold outside Autoshite.

I don’t think it has devalued but did not want to profit from this forum so am offering it at what it owes me. I have also offered it to the FB Citroen BX group at the same as Autoshite in the hope it may go to a sympathetic new home. If there are no takers I will have to put it on Feabay and think my reward for putting up with all that hassle will be a price over £400 and some spares to sell. My fear is it might become a runaround until the MOT runs out and then dumped.
