I'm too far away to be any physical help but I'll definitely chip in.  Just let me know where to donate.

Right,I'm sat in the fiesta now and the clutch is really light. This is going to be my most viable option. I already have bought the spring, just needs fitting. The brake lights stick on so switch may need sorting too. I'm just praying it doesn't need no more work for test. I said to chompy last night id rather get back behind the wheel asap as if I leave it too long it may become too daunting. May also need a new battery if the old one wont charge, unsure as charger AWOL! I'm more concerned about chompys car too!

Hmm I think @Stixy had a cheap auto for sale near me recently...

Does he want a fiesta?! To be honest it depends on insurance, monthly cost not as much an issue, just the initial deposit required!

I'm in for working on the Fester, looks like bub has a good working area at his place. Once tested he can then pass it on to fund an automatic if the clutch turns out to be too much for his leg. I could make myself available on Tuesday if that's any good.

is it post or square type terminals? I have a good spare battery you can have if it's the right type.

Wasn't Stixy selling a Kia Magentis?  That's going to be a bit hurtful insurance-wise.  However... didn't we just have a 1.4 Astra auto on the ebay thread?

I honestly think the fiesta will be the best option, its a lovely old car. The battery is round terminals. I have one on the car now but its too tall to fit the retaining bar over the top of it.

if you are up it can you get a measure of max height. I have one off a metro and an oldish red top that would crank the engine out the bonnet but is quite small so would rattle around but could possibly be packed out a bit.

And have you got the back box? Or is there a eurocrapparts nearby?

Posted

If thats all the fezza needs to be mobile its an afternoons work.

Again, too far away to help but its payday on thurs so can buy a backbox and have it shipped wherever if needed (providing the bb is 30/40 and not £100+)

o think the metro one would do, if Tommotech can make it up to you Tuesday he could bring it (I can drop it to him tomorrow), he can also borrow my spring compressor if he hasn't got any. I can't make it Tuesday as in work :-(

I have dropped Tommotech a Pm, if anyone else could help, out that would be great.

We just need to sort getting the motor to Chompy now........

Good stuff folks. Sorry I can't contribute funds or time at the minute.

Bub - absolutely spot on about 'getting back into the saddle' after something like that. These things do take some getting over, and getting back into a car and driving really is the only way to do it. You'll be keeping a nervous eye on the mirrors for some time I suspect.

I have spring compressor I can post up if needed?

Sorry to hear of this lads but glad you are (relatively) okay! Total fucker that BM driver hope we hear the outcome of his stay in prison! Not a lot of use to you guys being a million miles away but I will happily help the fund along.

Does ruffgeezer have the tools you need if we all pay him to send them over?

To be honest sam I've lost that much tools I need to write Dow everything! That proton sounds great!

Think of it as like a roffle, you never win anyway so it makes no difference!

..and without the terrible fear that sets in shortly before the lottery is drawn that you might actually win, and will have to explain to domestic management why you're having to make a 500 miles round trip to collect a car you don't need and she won't like.

I'll put a few quid in.

Spotted a cheap Badermatic for sale on the Autoshite for sale FB group, a H reg Proton SALOON for £195 with a few months ticket on. Downside it's in bloody Lowestoft

You read my mind - I was looking at that one too. Possibly could help with getting it there if needs be?

Happy to run the Picasso up to Yorkshire any time from Friday onward if another Midlands Massiv member fancies a day out with a chase car.

Don't worry, you only need that retaining bar if the car ends up on it's roof.....ah, on second thoughts.

Seriously though , I'm up for a No Fear of winning some Shonky old Heap Roffle, just need details of where to send pennies.

I can do chase car on Frday but only starting after 6pm due to work - or early on Sat (need to be back for 2pm at absolute latest to pick up daugter in Nottingham as it's my weekend with her) if that's any good. Will pay my own derv as contribution.

I've just messaged Chompy but if I can't help getting the Picasso back I can get the key from him and get it to Derby when I pass through that way on Wednesday on my way to Staffordshire.
