I see trouble ahead, while there's gumtree and boredom...

Yay,

A possible collecshun fred. Daughter needs some wheels, but is skint. Dad is expected to provide some wheels but is skint, but has a couple of days holiday left, and has been browsing Gumtree. Dad finds a Renner Clio dizzle, that's been out of MOT for nearly 2 years. Obviously texts the owner before sense kicks in, and a few minutes later the phone rings, owner of said Clio.

Owner says, sorry, have to withdraw car from sale as it won't start....which of course becomes a gauntlet which must be accepted as nothing gets my juices flowing like a non running, mouldy, scruffy Renner Diesel. So the asking price was agreed, which is exactly the figure more than I have . The scene is set for me to visit the big smoke tomorrow, with my trusty diagnostic computer, which has been up on the ramp this evening as the dug chewed the power cable, some tools,a jack and some determination. Rear brakes are seized, battery U/S and locks have been attended to as they were also seized and the battery being flat meant no entry.

Looking forward to it! Just checked it and MOT history looks good, and it's 30 quid a year to tax. Rabbits foots at the ready lads! One way or another it's getting driven home.

When you buy a new car from a dealer, you get a firm handshake and a bunch of flowers, but look at all the other things you get when you buy the Autoshite way.

If the car you look at is a total shitheap I have a corsa I could donate if you want to do some work on it,(I'm not trying to suggest the corsa isn't a shitheap) two tyres one wishbone bush and cam chain cover gasket,

It's moted to 12th Aug

And how much are they paying you to take it away!

Oh dear I suspect this is a 1.5dci. Fuel pumps are a favourite, but if it won't turn over have a look at the relays in the n/s/f inner wing as sometimes swaping them around will get them going. Another one I found was crank sensors failing and not putting a code in. Good luck !

Also, injectors fail and lose fuel pressure through the leak off pipes hence rail pressure is too low when cranking. Usually, a tow start will get them to fire.

+eleventy on injectors.

By rights a car with no MOT should be worth £40-50 scrap, though I suppose it just depends, if you've a gut instinct it will want minimal work to pass a test and its otherwise good it might be worth paying more. I saw a Mondeo TDDI, used daily until test ran out in Jan, 4 new tyres on it starts drives etc. He wanted £300 for it. The only fly in the ointment was that it had done 354,000 miles. If say for argument it might want handbrake looking at and a spring for the test then might be worth a punt.

Can you load up SIC's renault magic software? Does rely on you to have a compatible bluetooth obd reader.

Where is this fine steed incase A.R.S.E needs to spring into action to come laugh at you?

This may or may not be happening. I am possibly a Gumtree mong. Time is getting tight, although if it's dark it may help diagnosis. Busmans holiday and all that.

That's an amazing offer! Hold the front page as I'm still trying to come to terms with possibly being a mong. Hannibal Smith was a smug bastard wasn't, his shite plans always came together.

I have full on Delphi diagnostics, which is ace on Renners. On the second point, not telling. If a tree falls and all that.

Between daughter's work, a TSB internet banking outage and a small windfall on her side we can up our sights, a bit, possibly. Life is never straightforward where 20 year old blondes are concerned. To keep myself busy in the meantime I am creating a Chicken Balti and rock cakes.

P.S. I don't eat chicken.

To be fair the only way is up after a non-running Clio diesel.
