Sporty DisAstra 2002 1.8 SRi

Bloke at work. Likes his Astras. He's bought a newer one as the 2002 one failed its MOT on emissions. He had the garage fit a new EGR setup and didn't do anything else with it.

He's done lots of routine stuff on the car, brakes, shocks I think.

The car is in good condition, starts and drives, no MOT. Is located in Hatfield - Hertfordshire.

Average miles I believe. The car is the 5 door model and is black in colour.

Price 400 quid.

PM me if you haz interest.

** dips hand into pocket**

Two Opal fruits and 23 p.

It's an offer.

What flavour Opal fruits?

Betcha they're out of date and found in a Rover 400 Auto glovebox.. I'll raise the stakes to 3 green Starburst and a dog eared copy of Jalopy.

Both strawberry and now eaten so FRO.  :-D

C'mon, be serious for a nanosecond. What would it be worth with a full years ticket. It is very tidy indeed.

Look for similar cars on Autotrader and see. Thats the place where it will sell.

Sorry, I'm not an expert on these things but imo you'd be struggling to get much north of 500 quid for it, a 2002 astra is in no mans land, too old for the general population to be interested and not old enough to be old/retro.

Not an eggspurt though so Vx lickers, make yourselves known.

Quick browse on ebay shows prices from 595 to 1500 quid so maybe I'm a bit pessimistic there.

I think Mk4 has kept a good reputation - and you see a few late ones going for good money still (especially if it is an eco4 diesel or something). Beginning to see a few OMGHGF around with these though (that killed both of mine)...

All the petrol ones seem to need frequent oil top ups.

A bit underrated vs the Focus I think.

Ken, don't buy it unless he is offering serious good mates rates. I doubt there is much to be made after all the MOT work and faffing about, then the aggro of selling a 2002 Astra to joe and josephine bloggs.

By all means offer it about but don't inherit another man's ball ache.

600 quid if its tidy, and expect to get bartered down if the cambelt is not fairly new

^^Fucksake he's hardly gonna go for that option if it's in sight of an MOT. As long as it runs ok (these engines do have some crazy sensor issues from time to time-mostly sortable though) then it shouldn't bite you in the buttox if you take it on. If your mate sees sense and lowers his price accordingly, I would suggest it might be worth taking on.

If I can wear him down to say, 150 or 200 quid then it might be a goer.

That was all the garage said needed doing for the test but he got fed up with it and bought a newer Astra.

My 1.6 Twinport has not used any in 10K (33k to 43K)

I'd offer him £150 with no MOT or £450 with an MOT, which you are happy to arrange.
