Digits 4 and 10 of ours are F which must mean 4-door saloon, but I don't know what the letter for an estate is. Digit 9 is the model range, which is B for Mondeo. BTW, the Carbaba limit is 15 lookups in a 24-hour period as determined by my own experimentation. After 15 lookups you can still put in the reg and mileage but it will ask you to fill in the vehicle details manually instead of retrieving them from the database. ah interesting looks like the estate is N and the 5 door hatchback is A egg 1
LightBulbFun Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 using this info looks like K615GEV-K622GEV are all mondeo's im not sure what K623GEV is, comes back with a completely different VIN number and is marked as an estate (is it a really early pre production estate? or just some other ford estate registried along side the early cars? it comes back with no model info on the DVLA tho which is a bit odd for a vehicle this relatively new) some more for @greengartside to run perhaps?

Nothing on Etis for K623 GEV. I can’t pull a VIN number because the site that used to do that is now charging for the privilege ??? LBF if you can get a VIN then I can try and run it through?

HMC Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Curious to see what’s the age gap between the last Sierra and first mondeo In registration ( presumably there was overlap but how far) I remember in early 1996 my dad had a choice of an 11,000 mile 1993 k Sierra azura (moon dust silver, 1.8, a sort of run out model but still a bit povo spec eg keep fit windows all round) or an early k plate ex Fleet mondeo (1.6 glx) At 120,000 miles- both at the same dealer at 5,995 sticker price. (Broombank used cars in Mansfield- presumably long since gone) he chose the former, rightly or wrongly. I recall that was cheap for a mondeo at the time; and probably dear for a Sierra. Mr Laurence Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Probably quite a big gap I’d have thought, Ford always seem to keep a fairly large unregistered supply of an outgoing model whenever a new car is introduced, possibly not wanting a repeat of the frosty reception the Mk1 Sierra got when it was introduced. Most of the last Sierras registered seem to be Cosworths; I found a couple on Ms after a quick google MJK 24, HMC, bunglebus and 6 others 9
Eyersey1234 Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Didn't realise there were some M plate Sierras

I have it on good authority that STB (Start Training Build) on the Mondeo commenced in October 1992, this ruling out any J-platers. TomW86, egg and LightBulbFun 3

I got to see the interior pictures, and it was very clean, but this is all being torn out for a track car. Not much of use to me here, as this is an Opal grey interior. I did 'save' the stereo (with code), which arrived with me this morning, so that will live on next time mine fails! Yoss, BorniteIdentity, GrumpiusMaximus and 1 other 2 2

sierraman Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Wouldn’t it be a decent plan to get a spares car to break, I used to do this then you’ve a supply of useful supply of things like spare alternator, starter motor and various bits and bats. Before they’re 11 million quid for one that’s dragged out of a bush.

I do have a recon starter motor somewhere.
sierraman Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 I’m a bit short on space so I just used to go at it over a weekend and strip it down to the shell and block. I’ve now got sheds full of bits for cars I don’t have anymore 🤣 BorniteIdentity 1

That's the hilarity of the MK2 Focus. We have an absolute poverty-spec Focus in the household but it has electric front windows (rear ones can't be wound down at all in the three-door) because there is absolutely nowhere for the handle. Presumably it's cheaper just to fit the electric windows... Eyersey1234, bunglebus and egg 3
