Camber Sands near Camber Castle pub. My boys believe they have seen  it here the last 2 years they were down here.

Clucking Bell:

That's an E300 TD, with half the miles on it that mine has, and likely to have a lot of very useful parts on it that I could very much do with.

Any chance of finding who the owner is?

And now it's gone. I asked around at work. Apparently the local council knew who the owner was and they had a persuasive word.IMG_20210716_093723834_HDR.thumb.jpg.f98159c7199d69e62d00c78a37a8c6a4.jpg

How weird - surely if you can get a car to a tip you can get it to a scrapyard for actual money. Maybe the last ‘keeper’ didn’t actually own it.

Not yet it isn't! Still has tax & ticket, only done 13k, totally believable looking at the MOT history. Shame its not ULEZ compliant.

Not a very generously sized Disabled space is it.. Must have originally housed an Invacar..

It never seems to go anywhere. I thought it was decomposing!

Spotted this pair last year nearby on the same property.  They haven't moved since then by the looks of it, seeing them again today.

No idea what the story is but the house is clearly full of furniture etc. Although not sure if it's occupied.

Well Polish Merc #3 has replaced #2. No idea what's going on here, always in the same spot in a 2.5 hour limit car park. Probably no comeback due to the non-UK ref

Talking of dumped cars on private land. At my old work back in the mid '90's, a Mitsubishi Lancer (the square one, like the one pictured below) was dumped in the directors car park, in front of the office block. The story goes like this...

MD to Police - 'Someone's dumped a car in our car park, can you come and collect it, it's getting in the way and makes the place look like Steptoe's yard.'

Police to MD - 'Sorry sir, private land innit? Carn't do nufink abart it. But if it was to find it's way on to the road...'

MD to Receptionist - 'Can you put a tannoy out for a forklift driver to give me a ring please?'

15 mins later

MD to Police - 'There's a dumped car on the road outside our office, it's causing an obstruction.'

Police to MD - 'Orl right guv'nor, leave it wiv me.'

later that day

A Scrap man calls into reception - 'The police have asked me to shift that Lancer. Can I leave my card with you in case the owner turns up and asks where it is?'

No one claimed it.

I quite liked these, but they all seemed to disappear in about one month sometime in the '90's.

Walking round to the MIL's and happened upon this...

Looks like the wheelbolts have sheared and someone's suddenly found themselves with a 25% reduction in wheelage...

Didn't even realise Scénics had plastic wings, as it happens.

Apparently it's been dumped there since Wednesday.

Don't think it's much longer for this world...

Tax disc expired on 02/99.

It's been sitting here since at least July 2000 when I first started visiting the island of Arran.

Also, this Mercedes has been off the road since 2010 but only in this spot since 2019.

I used to have a regular Mégane and the wheel bolts were shocking quality. I had several of them snap without even being under load! When to the scrappy, grabbed a load more and half of those failed too.

This Cinq has languished outside a local MOT garage for at least 2 years.

I keep promising to take a picture of it for the other thread, but I bet my neighbours think that about the Missus Panda.

It never goes anywhere. I can count on 2 hands the number of times it's been cleaned. It has a huge dent all the way down one side which she refuses to let me fix. Most of the time it has green stuff on it and I have to thoroughly clean the windows whenever I take it to the tip.

And yet the only advisory it's ever had was because it was running on the original tyres (since replaced).

they do, it's a shame the owner didn't sell them when he moved out.....just dumped them

left unlocked too

i'm sure they would be great parts cars for people

If the contractor to remove cars for the council is a car dismantler rather than a metal yard, they at least will be available for spares.

And I imagine the rolling shell of the P4 might end up on the oval sans identity.

On the other hand, if they are off to EMR or whoever it’s squashed and shredded I’m afraid.

A Peugeot 304 cabriolet stored on wet grass is not going to end well.

The regular models weren’t exactly very long lasting, but these were horrendous for rot.

Most were scrapped by the mid 1980s (or given a quick ‘restoration’ and then scrapped in the early 1990s).

I know, I was surprised to see it sitting there. It looked in good condition but looking at the vegetation around had spent a little time in its position.

Looks like both the old ones have current tax and V5s recently issued...so someone's still keeping an eye on them?  Of course they don't need MOTs to be on the road...
