I have owned more than one Picasso.

I still want a Mk1 Saxo Vtr or Vts.

There is a special circle of Hell reserved for you too...

But dont worry after posting on facebook that Pooley Bridge has been renamed Pooley until further notice, I will be joining you all in Hell.

Don't you think he's suffered enough?

I bought a mint condition Austin 1300GT from an elderly couple in the early 1980's with low milage and they asked if i was going to look after it as they were very attached. Of course I lied and said I just adored the 1300GT. Within 72 hours I had it stripped of all that I needed for my Mini and left the shell burning outside the local breakers yard on a Sunday evening. I am deeply shamed...... Almost LOL

I do like the Hyundai Accent X3 model (1994-1999), but only the 5 doors ones.

Sounds very much like me then.

Also; I scrapped a Sierra Sapphire Ghia many years ago, and now I want to own a BMW E38 7-series.

This isn't going to end well.

Do it. I love mine.

I would hate myself forever if I got rid of it, had it for just under 2 years and done 20k in it, and aside from a couple of wishbones at the back, It's been faultless.

Values are on the up too.

Had I sorted out storage quicker and found a body shop that could have pulled the dent out of the cross member, my silver Piazza probably wouldn't be going for scrap.

I once spent TWO WHOLE DAYS trying to get my metro engined mini to start and run properly,

TWO WHOLE DAYS!!

The missus went at it for 10 minutes and had it running perfect!!

TEN MINUTES!

I wish I could fix my car, but I have got 0 mechanicing skills beyond "change rear light bulb".

Posted

Both my Triumphs managed to survive 35+ years of use and are now both mechanically broken, crash damaged and rusty after 2-3 years in my ownership.

When I used to do a lot of M6 commuting, I had to take a specially designated 'piss bottle' (no need for the quotes there really, it was a bottle I pissed in) every time I drove homeward bound. I'd eject the contents out of the window at speed creating a 'chaff' like piss cloud behind the car.

I have too many to admit to, but the most recent is I have a chavved up/lowered Bentley! When I got it, it sat low and I liked the 'stance' so when the suspension was rebuilt, I got them to leave all the shims out of the front suspension (used to adjust the ride height, sit under the springs) and the same at the rear. I was warned that it is close to the bump stops but so far, it's been fine!

Once disposed a T1 samba window bus into the Cotonou lagoon, seems that caused a shortage and prices immediatly went through the roof.

Disposed numerous 504's the same way in an attempt to increase value of the remaining ones.... didnt work.

I scrapped a FE Victor and bought a Cortina mk4 just to get a shag off a Ford loving Brummie sort - I got to fumble stage - then I found out she was married and I had to run off quick. She had fine tits mind but not Tit worthy of the FE scrapage mind

It was fucking tough even if it was too heavy to actually move under the steam of a puny Kwacker 400 twin :-P

happily this is probably not even in the top ten of crap projects I have been involved in :-D

When you drew it in magic marker on the back of that envelope it looked like it would work, but somehow it ended up the size of a small yacht. I can't for the life of me remember how we got the finished article back up the cellar steps; I guess the experience was so terrible that I've blocked it from my memory :-D

Other crap projects... how about the Reliant Kitten that we, erm, cabrio'd with a circular saw? And the Citroen CX sunroof we fitted to a Reliant Robin? We hadn't fully appreciated the relative size difference of the two cars & by the time we'd got it in the pig had about 1/2" of roof left either side!

I suspect many of us have 'cold welding' stories from our youth... my first car was a 1974 R5L. It was 12 years old by this time and, as you might expect, largely composed of iron oxide. My favoured method of repairing the many holes in its structure - some of which, I'm ashamed to say, were in prescribed areas -  was to dip a piece of an old t-shirt in fibreglass resin (fibreglass mat was deemed an unnecessary expense), stick it over the hole, sculpt it a bit as it dried, then fill, sand and rattle can as necessary. Sorted!

I bum raped a Fiat 131 Mirifiori Sport and put the engine in an FSO 125p. Badly. The Prop fell off on the A50. I guess that makes me a serial killer.

I own a Renault espace, I bought it to make a "profit" the thing is misery on wheels,it owes me about £1500 and it's just rotting in a field now

I recently bought this E46 BMW 328i to take the engine out for my E36 without checking they were interchangeable, it was not my finest moment but to make it worse the mech pulled the engine out of the E46 knowing it had to go into a E36 but did not tell me there was going to be a problem until after it was out!

Thing is the car still had an MOT and was repairable (rear suspension pulling out of body)

Anybody want to buy an E46 engine!

Lucky you mentioned that, theres half a costa cup of piss wedged against my Seddon's tool box from when I got stuck in a queue on the A14. In August.

I scrapped a Picasso DERV with 10 months MOT with several go faster mods because the gear selector cables failed and one injector was failing and paid £1500 for an Almera instead of fixing the Picasso.

I drive a lot of new cars and quite like some of them.

I'm also pretty hopeless at working on cars myself. Attempting to learn with the Metro.

Oh, and I didn't really like my E34.

I once scrapped one of these a 79(T) in orange

I am so so sorry.

Now was it my imagination or does the drivers seat fold cross ways to allow access to the rear ie the inside of the seat stayed upright the outside folded across?

Yes they do - I had a lift in one years ago and questioned Volvo's build quality when I first saw this "party trick".

I like it.

I would have another.

It has a suitcase (in the boot)

Nothing to do with Volvo quality... It's due to the car's DAF 77 heritage !

I once bridged a posh spec Daewoo Espero with nothing wrong with it.

The guilt feelings still make me wake up at night and then I'm unable to go back to sleep.

I recently (ok last couple of years) bridged one of the last RHD Renault 14's. Strangly enough it doesn't keep me awake at night the rotten old pear deserved it. The plus point is I managd to piss off a few people by doing it. I have also bridged a pair of Matra Simca Bagheera's one was very restorable but I just got sick of the sight of them. I did feel slightly guilty about that one though.
