Toledo is now officially legal for the road again.

Insurance was purchased for £70 and tax was obtained for free.

Happy days, he might have a brief outing tomorrow.

Up this morning with a plan, dogs walked and about to leave and I get this look.

IMG_20200603_083310311.thumb.jpg.3a5e25c7e70289197670bcb24aac0a7d.jpg

I added some more lacquer and started to unmask. Then I put the grills back on.

IMG_20200603_112914560.thumb.jpg.2622b7c3c32e6b0b1ef6c7aad8477725.jpg

Then the bumper and numberplate so now ready for some more fuel.

IMG_20200603_120116755.thumb.jpg.937c7b3229bdf2a7ef02701ea5303646.jpg

After fuel I went for a potter and got this picture.

IMG_20200603_122139691_HDR.thumb.jpg.a1f5dbc2248aeca0839cdd3a036f829a.jpg

Then went castle hunting and found this one.

IMG_20200603_122855848.thumb.jpg.bcebcf7680e1c35e9f33da91933eccd3.jpg

Then headed back, covered this many miles with no issues.

IMG_20200603_124657800.thumb.jpg.6d11b1e28048b9b3ed6bc130bd3aa318.jpg

The paint work I have done is rubbish but it is presentable enough and has cost about £40 all in.

It also doesn't affect the way the car drives which is brilliantly.

DONE.

That's brilliant news. You've turned that around from being a millstone into an asset to be enjoyed in super quick time. Hope you decide to keep it and just enjoy it for a while as you crack on with the Minor ☺️

He needs to keep it long enough for a Tolly Dolly showdown with my car at least...

It's also providing vital services to the fucked/not fucked fleet ratio

After finishing the work on the Toledo I've done another tidy up. Six bin bags of stuff away and a reorganise again.

Minor into a position that doesn't block the whole workshop.

Cupboards sorted so I know where stuff is.

The floor is in great condition, door cards will be coming off next time, I had some soil to move so that was all the car time today.

@Jim Bell did nobody teach you to clear up after yourself?

Good to see this wee thing getting some attention. Is this the one that you discovered no working taillights on just before leaving Scotoshite one time? 50 odd miles from home in the dark?

That interior looks brand new. Lovely hues on the inside AND on the outside too.

Splendid.

metalwork looking good, give it a bit of rustproofing to keep it that way

That is exactly the plan.

This is indeed the one that my team if technicians had to do some remedial work to for the trip home ;)

Oooft, I fucking love shit that is obviously plastic but made to look like wood.

Moggy looks like a solid old tub, going to be easy work for you now I've done the Tolly. ;)

oooh vintage T12 fluorescent fixtures...

pretty obscure ones too! im not actually sure which make/model they are exactly, I have seen that lamp holder style before but i cant quite place my finger on it

(is the tube for the 3rd fixture still around somewhere?)

got any pictures of the control gear might give me a clue as to what they are exactly :)

They *are* oddballs...I recognise them but I'm damned if I can put my finger on the maker.  My immediate thought is Claude Neon...but I'd definitely not be putting money on that.  More likely to be one of the smaller UK makers which have long since vanished...though I'm going through the list can't can't think of anyone with those lampholders...

yeah same! I KNOW I have seen those lamp holders before! but I just cant quite place it (tho I dont think its claude neon, they look too british for that)

from pictures kindly PMed to me by @Tickman

the atlas T12's and metal can starters pictured tell me they are from the 1960s at the latest but they have open backs which tell me they are something more budget minded

(sadly the label on the ballast was illegible)

I look forward to getting them in time! :)

Gearbox tunnel out then propshaft.

IMG_20200607_133037352.thumb.jpg.0227fe4ba275369104bebc940c9d8537.jpg

Then the rest of the door cards were removed. I don't think I will reuse the damp proofing membrane!

IMG_20200607_141726243.thumb.jpg.d153b11388d774b60864079ecad080bf.jpg

Then I fucked about with the clutch pedal arrangement and got that separated, this meant the gearbox could be removed leaving a space.

Gearbox is light but even lighter when on a board with wheels.

It looks like it has had wax injected into lots of box sections as well as the inside of panels. I think this has certainly made a difference.

Then it was time to get it to a position comfortable to work on. The roller is designed to be all or nothing but with the application of science I varied the angle.

IMG_20200607_143823536.thumb.jpg.8c9a0f5878a0a5975d3716e905b7f511.jpg

This is how it currently sits.

The crane isn't holding any weight, just belt and braces.

It is a little* unnerving jacking it up.

I've been using the Toledo with no issues, now 60 miles done.

I started my progression to vibration white finger today.

It is cleaning up quite well.

I do have some anti vibration gloves as well as my mask, goggles and ear defenders which I have been using.

That was a good few of hours and I just can't keep going because of the vibration so it's going to take quite a while.

I have MIWJ

Morris Inner Wing Jealousy

Top work - looks a very solid thing! Pity I can't repay the favour re all your help on the Oxford:( damn covid!

Amazing! Your Minor looks infinitely cleaner around the base of the A pillars than my old 67 did back in the early 1990s. Was it restored previously, or just sat in dry storage for years?

It has been used all its life and never pampered. The original owner had coated the underside with grease and oil and there are rubber bungs into the box sections that must have been wax injected.

I've never seen another so solid.

How clean is it in there!!!!?

That looks fantastic metal-wise man.  Great to see it's undercroft looking so solid and impressive.

Rear arch time, this is where it starts to get more involved.

General look.

There are a few bits of the seam that are missing due to atomising after being introduced to the wire wheel.

The bottom of the rear quarter will need a bit of work.
