Parky Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 They are just such a nice classic design. And I reckon parts won't be too much of an issue as there is a lot of Fiat under there and Spanish eBay will surely have plenty of bits. That dent looks no bother, any decent panel guy should be able to straighten that without too much trouble if you were that worried.
sloth Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 did you know, this was designed as the mk2 golf, vw rejected it, and it became this.
Parky Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 That would have meant a 1.8 16v version! Noice....
KruJoe Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 It does look very "Jetta" at the front. Maybe VW kept that idea. Back in the day I had a tourquoise Y10 Touring (1050cc, grey fake suede inside, and LED's all over the dash). I put a set of these Ibiza multispoke wheels on it, and I thought I was TEH MAN. crapcarcollector 1
the judge Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 I had a j plate 1.7d with 45k or something miles on it. If you went over a bump, the ignition key weight switched itself off!! Hardly germanic. Handling was absolute wooden pants. Absolutly lovely though, went to the moon on cherry for nowt. Loved it actually thinking about it
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 Was that in the UKk??? I didn't know they sold the diesels here.
KruJoe Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Aye, I came this close > < to rescuing a white non-running dizzle I about 1998.
the judge Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Oh yes. In a purpley colour. J plate, with the uno type 1.7. Was slow, but an ace motor
cyruspower Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Love the mk1 SXi! Really wanted one when they came out. Always looked so good under street lights in town at night with those polish spoked alloys.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 found a crappy picture I took of this Ibiza in the lads barn (all the other photos didnt come out). I have got a set of Lancia Beta alloys that I am going to use as slave wheels for bringing the Ibiza back. This sort: Theyre in dreadful condition so I will clean them up and give them a lick of paint before I get some tyres fitted on. I would just use Hammerite but I've heard its mega shit these days. Anyone suggest a decent alternative for a job like this? I'm just gonna brush paint em.
DeeJay Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Poundland do spray cans of silver wheel paint. I think somebody on here has tried it.
r.welfare Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I did, it's OK but won't last long if you use super strength alloy wheel cleaner afterwards.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 WORD!!!!! I am off to fetch this home starting tomorrow. I bottled out of the A-frame option (must be getting old) and am taking the trailer, got a crossing booked for like midnight tomorrow night. I have gone over the trailer greasing this, adjusting that and checking the other. Staying at Mutha_Nutsack's place for a couple of days then picking the Ibiza up early sunday morning and heading home!!! The crossing alone is costing £240, plus I will get through £100+ of diesel, so its not gonna be a cheap motor by the time i get home, but I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend at my mum's house and am partially justifying the trip on that basis, plus my mum has been really down after smashing her leg last year so i'm sue she'll appreciate a visit (I'm taking a loadf of food I've made!!!) so everyone wins hopefully. NB has anyone got a Haynes for this? I need a wiring diagram for the injection system. If anyone has one and fancies doing me a scan I can offer them some MAD PROPZ!!! nacho man, scruff, Coprolalia and 19 others 22

Mr_Bo11ox Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Yes!!! That is exactly this kiddy Nyphur. Theres no gasping hurry but if you do find time to scan it in it would be AMAZE, its just the fuel injection that I need to investigate really, 1989 1.5 Bosch injection set-up.
nigel bickle Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I've 3 Haynes, (1 in each )so if you get stuck I can copy mine when back in the uk. Still puzzled that you have injection on an early car,B when I have carbs, on later cars.......

Mr_Bo11ox Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Ps. Wimp. I'll give you £20 for the redundant a frame.... Ha!!!!! I knew you would make me feel inadequate about that!!!! (I did anyway to be honest) I'm not selling the A though, its still a key tool in my shite armoury nigel bickle 1
nigel bickle Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I understand. I guess it's fear of th Unknown,on another Continent. Better to play safe, even at the higher cost. Bon voyage

Mr_Bo11ox Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Yeah I've got a whole boot full of straps, ramps, spare wheel, tools, boiler suit, hi-viz, torches, oil, bulbs, spare trailer wheel bearings and gawd knows what else!!!! As usual I was bricking it before I set off, but it towed really nicely this morning and the stress level is dwindling.
