Why not just post this when you're actually going for the car?

Well I though about it...............and then I thought: Naah!

Better to plan ahead. It may seem a doddle to the uninitiated, but come the day, there will be many things to take care of: Obtaining the Euros from a bank; finding the address of seller; testing the car; loading it with the extra panels included in sale; refueling and driving it to Calais; loading it on the boat; driving it from Dover to the MOT station; thereafter driving it all the way home to complete the registration process.

So you see, a busy day ahead of me come the end of the month! There will be little enough time for taking photos! Far less for creating a new thread here!

Make sure that between now and whenever this happens, you give us a daily update of all the stuff that hasn't happened yet eh? P.s. You are a colossal throbbing bell end.

I don't get it, it takes seconds to create a thread.

I'm calling shenanigans on this.

Paris? Hardly the far end of the world, is it?

I hauled back from Liege yesterday, picked up my 4 wheeled dolly & then drove to Frome to collect an accident damaged Renault 12.

I loaded it up, on a very wet slippery steep drive ( oooohhh dangerous) onto the he dolly, then hauled it home.

Round trip around around 700 miles, towing a loaded Dolly.

Prep? Tanked the car, checked the levels, loaded the dolly, booted the tools. Job done.

Exciting? Nah..

Here's a screenshot you can have.post-9282-0-91045500-1448008349_thumb.jpeg can't we pretend that Renault 20 owns all three.

As that really would make him an autoshite hero..

That is a shame about that 12 Nigel it looks like it was a really nice car. I think the OP needs to stop moaning and start listening to some people who have brought a few cars back from France already as insurance is a big problem and I am a little surprised the French seller is holding this car so long unless it is a right pile of crap he can't sell anywhere else. I will never forget the Peugeot 504 coupe from Lyon, the seller told me it would drive home. Luckily I took a trailer  as the steering rack was so bent the wheels were pointing in opposite directions.

Mr bickle, did you train or ferry and where you stuck in this French upheaval that's going on after the recent attacks, we where supposed to be heading over again this weekend on another collection but put it back a week just in case,

Mr B, how on earth did a bent R12 end up in Frome?

I thought I hated those cars after my dad had a rusty metallic blue one with primered arches (1200cc auto? would that be right?) but I've developed a strange hankering for one lately.

This place, etc

edit to add, that's street looks familier too, I only live a few miles from there

I'm looking forward to the actual collection day already.

Remember to include a petrol station shot and what you had for lunch.

not epic, no action and no pics :( ...

That r12 does not look bad though

12 will pull straight, using my ever reliable oak tree. It was in EBay, but the seller forgot to mention the damage, posting " before pics". I think everyone smelt a rat, so I got it for pennies.

Seems he got out briefly, forgot the handbrake and it just rolled down his drive, across the road into the brick wall opposite..

No Carte grise, limited paperwork, no ignition key,nut it does drive, and it is Mot'd, to Mid December.

Family of old car nuts, Dad owns an H van as a daily, with Sdi vitesse lump and Un1 5 spd box. Sounds the absolute nuts. Just a kid, out of his depth, and now back in France for the winter

Garibaldy, Driving across is fine. I just drove over, in the Safrane, using the tunnel. Do it all the time and I've had no trouble. I think it might be different in an empty hgv, mind...

Another R12 mk1/mk2 mash-up (or bash-up in this case)! I'm guessing it's deffo a mk1 (hard to retro-fit the vertical C-pillar vents?) with just a mk2 grille/bumper?

Nigel - is that Musso yours? If so - have a gold star!!

You have to go through with this now - any "it's fell through" bollocks towards the end of the month will result in an autoshite shooing.

I'm overwhelmed. What exactly was the point of this thread? Were you reserving a space in case the forum is full in a month's time? Please don't just start a new thread every time your brain thinks of something.

Mind you, kudos for Bickle for filling it with some actual content. A smashed up Renault Douze. Fabulous.

That Renault 12 didn't come from just over the water either.

Shame about the clouted front but at least Mr Bickle will have it sorted by Tuesday
