Looks like vauxhall's been writing its own cheat software

Vauxhalls can detect owner apathy and set themselves on fire. Absolutely true. Ask any zafira owner.

My vectra utterly failed in this respect - I replaced it with an Audi knowing that everybody would think I was the biggest wanker since creation.

As for the daily Mail, if their weather forecast said it was sunny I would pack a brolly.

Back to the diesel thing, it's farcical that manufacturers are being targeted...

So you seriously advocate that they should be allowed to get away for fraud, if not murder?

Anyone who buys a diesel Vauxhall is a twat and deserves everything they get.

Even I can't argue with that.

OMG ALL DAILY MAIL IZ SHIT.

Vauxhalls are built in Ellesmere Port therefore any cheating software would of been written on a ZX Spectrum and typed out with webbed fingers.

Murder?

If some fucking shareholder corporation willfully pollutes my air with toxic waste despite it's against the law, then yes, I consider this murder, aside of it being terminally fascist.

To be honest, I'm a bit irritated by how a lot of people here seem to be completely indifferent to the fact, that they are sacrificed for the benefit of a selected few who are way too rich already.

As its an American company I think GM would of plumped for a commodore computer..so my bet would be a Vic- 20 with a 16k ram pack.

Plus it's easier to type on if you have webbed fingers.

If you look back at the tests carried out in America and Europe that started the whole VW thing off, they talk about drive cycle optimisation (ie making sure it passes the test and not worrying about general use) as well as defeat devices.

Could perhaps just be that this is really optimised around the test perhaps.

I don't think this is the time to be buying a diesel...........

Did the Daily Mail blame immigrants for the Vauxhall emissions debacle?

Or the EU?

I have a Vauxhall diesel, now nobody wants to be my friend.

If only the story was in the Daily Express it would have been linked to Princess Diana.

I've just looked at those comments, of course for your (maximum allowable) £54.85 MOT cost we have invested £1,000s in equipment that will test your car for all known emissions

Princess Diana would never have bought a Vauxhall .

.... She would do Anything!

"But I won't do that!!" (drive a Maxi diesel)

You should probably check where your pension provider has got you invested - you might be in for an unpleasant surprise

What I like is this diagram that shows all manufacturers failing to get to Euro 3 compliance levels 12 years ago and not improving on average since despite several new levels of ever tighter NOX regulations.

Yeah, good point - I'd missed the black line. So actually everyone should be in the shit, not just Vauxhall?

Cheating the tests is a game.

They do it in the Aircraft Industry all the time.  To get an Airworthiness certificate for an aircraft , for example,  they have to show you can evacuate the plane down the inflabale slides in 90 secs.

SO to pass this test, they fill the airplane with 250 slim 20 year old joggers all of whom as a fit as a butchers dog and more agile than Spiderman. OFC they can lll get out the plane in 90 seconds. What they never try is filling the plane with knackered, whining, deaf, slow 80 year old women with demetia and a zimmer frame.

government and management are very similar in that neither realise the more difficult the targets and the bigger rewards for getting it right, the more likely that the figures get fudged.
