Fit for purpose still applies even if they tried to avoid their responsibilities with Sold as seen or Spears or Reapers.

Oh no !!!!!! can I have all 49 tickets at a tenner a throw. If you have no luck with the dealer bring it up here and I will have a go at it. No idea what it would cost but as long as you are in no rush I can fit it in when I have nothing else to do.

Speaking as an International Warranty Consultant (*aherm*) for a global giant, this is a Warranty Claim.

You could have bought any old one off ebay for 6 grand but you spent extra for the peace of mind of getting it from a dealer. Get it back to them ASAP and get them to sort it or give you you're money back.

You look less fat than I imagined. The dogs look lovely.

Ace car by the way :)

I am not overweight, I am undertall! When (on the very rare occurrence nowadays) I am my full 6 foot, I am thin and underweight, when I am 5'8" I look a bit fatter! :)  Anyway, I soon will not be able to eat for several months so that should solve any weight problems!

If you want or need any advice on chucking this back to the dealer, then get in touch.

But don't let it put you off a wonderful car.

Put more oil in, problem solved. That's been my tactic for the Dolomite 1300 for the last 3 years and 11,000 miles...

I'd be straight onto the blower to the dealers, if they don't play ball then speak to citizens advice. You haven't owned the car 14 days yet so I'm sure you are still entitled to returned it if it's not up to satisfactory.

Dealer will say " its an old motor, they all do that, sir " or " what do you expect for £ 9,000, sir ?" Good luck !

Partridge is a %£&$%£(£^$. I am typing this precisely eleven seconds after he told me there was an Autoshite Bentley raffle.

Much disappoint. So Bentley. How raffle.

Headgasket set is the best part of £800, you could try that snake oil stuff that is supposed to stop leaks by making the rubber seals swell. Worth a try before ripping the heads off. It's a lovely car and well worth sticking with.

Whaddya reckon the dealers already did that, and that's why it wasn't doing an impression of Thomas the Tanked Engine on purchase...

Even if a dealer sells a car as spares with say a blown head gasket even if they've declared this to the seller if the gearbox turns out to be knackered theyre still liable for the gearbox. To that end the old car excuse don't wash. Just speak to them and see what happens .

Think in relative terms. It's a tiny fraction of what the car cost new, and even now, less than 10%

Whereas a Honda gasket set for my Accord is 150% of the car's value. That's expensive for ya.

I had a look on flying spares website and genuine valve stem oil seals are 20 quid each !!!!!!. I am sure they can be had at a more sensible price if you know what other engine they will fit.

Isnt this the old mantra "it may be a cheap car nowz but itll still have the costs it did when new"

Id still go back to the dealer though, £9k is alot of wedge. If it was a £300 car then we all know the answer, but 9 big ones...

Or fit an xud into it?

Had good experiences in the past with Citizen's Advice, definitely worth a try if the dealer won't play ball immediately.

Chuck a couple of cans of wynn's in and see how it goes.

Or formula 1 20W/50 with a genuine filter.

Or a ford V4.

Aye.  There is no way the supplying dealer wouldn't be fully aware of the fault.

It can't be that difficult to change the valve stem seals on those.

Possibly not.  I think the main issue is getting to them...
