What sounds take you right back to your automotive formative years?  A few of mine...

Straight-cut gear whine

Morris Minors farting on the overrun

The clang of an ADO16 door shutting

The click as a BMC starter engages

The burble of a big petrol-engined van

The sound (and smell) of two-stroke motorbikes.

There don't seem to be all that many left, apart from a few scooters. But they don't really count,

The sound of my mum swearing because whatever piece of rubbish sat on the drive wouldn't start.

To be fair, though, out of all of our cars it was only ever the Seat Ibiza that wouldn't start in the morning. Something to do with the automatic choke.

But yeah, hearing the neighbours endlessly cranking their cars in the morning. That takes me back. You don't hear that any more - not unless you live next door to me anyway.

The hissing miss-fire sound of Ford sidevalve v8 when riding in my old man's 6 wheeler WOT at the age of 3. This Rod-braked device had a body similar to the one in the picture and was loaded to the top which must have meant that it was being operated at about twice its design weight. I was lucky to see my forth year.
