Autoshite Tool Borrow

I have a number of things that might be useful to fellow Autoshiters. I've needed these things in the past, but nobody has lent me them as they are a) tight or b ) twats. I fondly* remember fitting an engine with two car jacks because I had no access to anything.

 

I thought we could set up a 'library' of tools that most people don't have. 

 

Any AS'er can borrow any of these as long as you don't/are not:

a) take the piss and keep them for ages because you can't be arsed returning them,

break them,

c) a twat.

 

I have (and will update when I remember what I have):

 

a ) 2 ton engine crane

 

b ) Towing a-frame

 

c ) Engine lifting leveller

 

d ) Solid towing pole

I have an old man with a dremel I can lend out if you need any fibreglass rust bodging doing, if you're totally opposed to doing a job properly. 

Specialises in Honda Civics.

Leicestershire, and probably the most useful thing I have isn't really a lending thing - but I've got BMW INPA, Mercedes-compatible CarSoft, proper spring compressors for Mercedes, a couple of jacks, axle stands and a bloody great big barn in which the work can be done. I'm also up for helping with things, so if you've got a rear subframe to swap out or something I'm happy for it to be done here, undercover, in the warm, and be an extra pair of arms for the work as well.

 

Tools here vary. If I ever get a welding kit, experienced users can exchange use of said welder for welding on my cars (and telling me what needs doing to them in terms of the prep work to make the repair easy).

I have the VAGCOM, only on a cheapy cable so can only do pre-canbus stuff (most things prior to mk5 Golf) I also have VAGtacho for key programming/SKC extraction, and I have an MPPS cable for remapping.

 

Note that all these are pirate chinese jobs so success not guaranteed.

 

Manual tools that may be worth lending include a wheel bearing press set, brake pipe flaring tool and eezibleed, console bush press tool for Golf/Fabia/Octy etc, probably some others will update when I've checked.

I've got a Saab sump to drop one day. Brakes I'll do on the road outside my house, but you might be my knight in rusty armour when it comes to something a little less simple. I'm just over the motorway towards Coalville and will happily swap a warm and pleasant working environment for liquid refreshment or whatever.

 

Actually, if any of you Leics lot just need encouragement and someone to hold the spanners I'm quite happy to join in on a fixing mission.
