This morning I was driving East Bound along the A50, between Uttoxeter and Derby.

 

IF anyone happens to know the bint, driving a dark blue mk1 Ka, in the outside lane at 58mph, which unfortunately I was forced to undertake, and who happened to think she was justified in Flashing her lights, as if to say "I'm God's gift to the overtaking lane" ?

 

Please let her know that I hate her, and hope she gets done for obstruction.  Bint.

happens in ireland - their motorway are glorified dual carriageways and they will sit at the inside lane speed overtaking noone - bike = bye bye

My favourite ones are the nutters who drive in the outside lane of an empty dual carriageway at 59 mph then eventually move over after about 5 miles and as soon as you are past them pull back out again......

My dad lives firmly in the camp that the very inside lane is lorries only and cars should sit in the middle lane. Really annoys me as other than that he's a good driver.

 

There's a video doing rounds on Facebook at the moment (on 'Idiot Drivers Exposed UK) or something taken from a lorry dash cam. Guy overtakes then just sits in the outside lane, another car comes up behind and the first guy refuses to pull over. The car behind flashes headlights, still no response but then the first car starts slamming on his brakes. After the third time of doing it the car behind puts his blue lights on and tugs him. Quite amusing...

Nearly 50 million quid a year - should be able to build a hospital or two with that.

Any reason why SPECS can't be reprogrammed for this? If some flid is spotted in the middle lane for more than, say, four camera's, just issue and automatic ticket.

 

Der Bosche have coped for years with two-lane motorways with unrestricted sections (not many, admittedly) because it's designated as an overtaking lane; you are only allowed to use it for overtaking, then fucking well pull in.

I hope you counter that by saying sitting in the middle is just lazy driving.  Far from being safe I feel quite vulnerable sitting in the middle lane for any length of time (not that I'm a hogger, just if I'm in a line of traffic), so always feel more comfortable in lane 1 so atleast there's the hard shoulder as a get out.

 

But to join in with the inordinate amount of thread rage, SET FIRE TO THE LOT OF THEM!!

That's how I see it. I don't want to be in front of someone who wants to go faster and they don't want me in front of them, so it makes sense to let them go.

True, I don't normally let things bother me now. I tend to just continue driving normally and get out the way as soon as I can.

The guy that was tailgating me was hassling me as I overtook a line of HGV's. I was already doing over the limit to do the overtake. All he had to do was slow down and calm down until I'd moved back over but for some reason chose to get to within millimetres of my back bumper, hand signs, flashing lights the lot. All totally unprovoked too. It was some years ago now though.

It was the sheer aggression this dick was showing so I let him have it! Nothing to be proud of though, and it makes me cringe now at what could have happened.

It solved the problem as he slowed right down and left me alone after that!

 

As I said, better to ignore them and get out the way. They'll get it one day either by the police or having an accident. Just a shame they could easily involve innocent people if they do.

I sometimes commute to work on my 125cc scooter, using a 20 mile section of the M11 motorway. It has a maximum speed of 64mph (it's geared to do that-can't get it to go any faster). I must undertake (not that there is an offence of undertaking) 30 to 40 cars where they are in the middle lane with nothing in front of them.

 

A black visor means I can give them "The Stare" as I go past them. Wankers.

If I'm being hounded by a tailgater I *very occasionally* cover my brake pedal with my left foot so the lights come on, but accelerate with my right foot at the same time. That way I don't actually lose speed but the arsehole on my rear bumper shits themself when they see my brake lights and has to hit their own brakes.

 

I rarely have trouble with tailgaters though, probably because I'm usually travelling at or above* the speed limit.

 

And tbh they are far less of a problem than those CUNTS that hog the middle lane. They deserve death – but only after their dog has been punched, in the face, in front of their entire family.

Driving Essexman’s Transit down to Devon at the weekend I had a fair few people tailgating me on long stretches of dual-carriageway on the A303, whilst I was in the left-hand lane doing 60.  Thing is, why do it to yourself?  The road was quiet, and yet sitting on my bumper must have taken more effort than just backing off and enjoying the drive.  I toyed with a few of them by slowing down to 50 then up to 70 and back again, and they followed like I was towing!  There’s another lane there dipshits.  I bet they’re the sort of folk who come and sit next to you on a train despite the carriage being empty.

I used to get tailgated fairly often but since I stuck a dashcam in the back window it very rarely happens. It's not even plugged into anything these days.
