I'm super annoyed I couldn't make this in the end, looks like you had a fantastic time. I absolutely love that Talbot Alpine btw, what a wreck!

I didn't take that many pictures, here they are.

I found this the most enjoyable car to drive. These things always did punch above their weight. The 405 was a close second. The first time I was in a car at over 100mph was in an early Alpine with approximately eight children in it, driven by the mother of four of them.

I'm most disappointed with myself for not driving either the Alpine or Y10, every time I thought about it the cars would be out again. Must try harder next year.

Don't be disappointed Trig - you should be proud of yourself for telling the Cortina lickers to GTF, and coming with us instead. The decision of a winner.

For everyone who didn't make it:

Must try harder next year.

You had enough warning it would be an epic, and indeed it was. IN YOUR FACE.

yeh, what happened to the Insight?? It wasn't at the museum when I got there at 9.30ish :(

Here r my pics

upload_-1.jpg

The first 20 miles of my trip were to meet up with Semi-C at a service station. We promptly got stuck in a closed M40 for probably 3 hours

This rolled past a few times

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

This looked very tidy

upload_-1.jpg

Many hours later we happened upon another service station for the feeling to come back into my legs and empty bladders then fill them again with coffee

upload_-1.jpg

I drove over this roundabout many years ago  with Amy in a Zafira that wasnt mine!

upload_-1.jpg

The first llangollen sign

upload_-1.jpg

The scenery started to appear then

upload_-1.jpg

We arrived, said hello, and exchanged real names which I promptly forgot! The go kart was being resurrected at this point, lined up for a tow from the 205 that never happened

upload_-1.jpg

I then took no pictures until the next day, as I looked over car's I've never seen in the flesh before, talked to people I've never seen before, get introduced to the Brothers Touring's beer supply and pop into town with Bub for food, and I think we saw a morgan or 2

Breakfast was then had

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

The fire came back alight, but burned out fairly soon after.

upload_-1.jpg

The small stick didn't burn much

upload_-1.jpg

Always had a secret horn for these

upload_-1.jpg

This was lovely too

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

This is a thing of beauty

upload_-1.jpg

The pleasure wagon turned up, loaded to the brim with pleasure!

upload_-1.jpg

This was ace!

upload_-1.jpg

The museum was up next, and immediatly I saw this

upload_-1.jpg

A pre 1925 Hoover (dont know the number). Wasn't in the 'for sale' section sadly

Om Nom Nom

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

This was a car vacuum (possibly the same age as the car it was with) that went over the end of the exhaust, one set one's car to a fast idle and the back pressure created suction so you could clean your car!

Devils Bridge was arrived at. Tat swapping picked up a pace, aminly I think because everyones cars were so well packed swapping stuff at llangollen would have been an issue

upload_-1.jpg

Exhausts fitted

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

Scotland started a fire

upload_-1.jpg

A tiny volvo was created

upload_-1.jpg

The car swapping started in earnest on sunday

upload_-1.jpg

I only drove one car, not sure why, just didnt quite feel confident taking peoples cars out on roads I don't know, plus I didnt want to offer the ZX into the pile as the rear calipers are working with hope and grease, and not much else, and it was very, very laden down everywhere. I'll hopefully have it more sorted next year, but tbh I can't imagine people would have jumped to have a chance in a 1.9td with knockety rear beam bushes...

I did drive the 205, quite briskly I thought until I took a passenger ride back down and realised I had driven like a pussy (but then there's no better driver of a car than it's owner!) and got taken for a passenger ride by fatha_touring which was fucking brilliant!

We then departed, and I was enjoying the drive home so much I peeled away from Semi C and Trigger who were heading for the motorway, and stayed on the back roads. Then hit a rock, which destroyed the fuck out of the rear tyre

upload_-1.jpg

In hindsight it was possibly better that I hit the rock and didn't notice and take emergency non-thinking evasive action and wipe the biker out who was alongside me (fucking twat) Spare on, carry on

for about 40 miles

upload_-1.jpg

cunt

upload_-1.jpg

not even 3 months old. Amy asked next door to put the old wheels I hadnt got round to taking to the tip yet in her boot, then drove to wherever

upload_-1.jpg

I settled down to read the magazines the chap with the Saab gave me, fucking life saver that was!

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

Rescue came, and I immediatly emptied my account and we grabbed a travelodge

upload_-1.jpg

upload_-1.jpg

Had a fry up at Hereford sainsburys this morning

upload_-1.jpg

and polited my now shit running car with a 2 sizes smaller spare and a 1 size smaller front, which was quite soft (but still 32psi according to asda) back towards home

upload_-1.jpg

I said thank you to the Meriva for not shitting itself after suddenly doing 210 miles rather than its usual 4-5 mile trips here and there

upload_-1.jpg

and my (rather small tbh) mileage for the weekend

upload_-1.jpg

No idea about mpg, I had 1/4 the day before I left, chucked £20 derv in before I left to take it to half a tank, was back down to just under 1/4 when we got to Devils bridge, Was filled up very professionally at Devild bridge and have just under 1/2 a tank left now. Meh, dont care!

While we're at it the exhaust was a tow bar ;) The exhaust was involved because the hanger gets mounted on the tow bar.

I've been looking through these pages for an hour or two and becoming quite sad I could not be there. Looks like it was a great weekend.

Who's is the Bx with what looks like AX alloys on it ? Never thought about those wheels before but they look pretty tasty. Any more pictures?

As we all know, the Kia of much raffling didn't make it home without incident. It lunched it's aux belt at Gretna and subsequently stopped charging. It completely ran out of electrickery right outside 320Touring's brother's house so with the fact there was a spare belt provided, a rescue mission occured...
