Wedding car suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I am a glutton for punishment and am getting married again next year. Surely it can't be as bad as the first time, can it??? I need to arrange a wedding car. I think she'd like something shiny and new but I have other plans. The wedding is in a marquis on a farm and there's a bumpy steep farm track to negotiate so that will rule out a few motors. I'm thinking Jag or Daimler. Will need to be local to Leics or Northants. Any suggestions both sensible and not so?

Marquee, surely? Perhaps on a marquis' land! Series 3 109, well hosed out beforehand should do.

I think bumpy, steep farm track rule out Jag/Daimler, but Silver Shadows seem decently tall.  Don't forget to take into account her dress too.  My mates wedding pictures are a hoot, with her in her multi-layered confection sitting in/on a Beauford while he is standing beside the car.

It won`t be a stylish marriage...

We can`t afford a carriage...

I use to run a 1968 Daimler 250 V8 and S-Type Jaguars an R and a 3.0SE as wedding cars.

For a farm track you will need a hummer.

You could always lookfor a Regancy or a Beauford.

We no longer run wedding cars,we moved in to the wedding deco side,we use 4x4's as we do a lot of marquis and need to get across wet grass farm tracks.

We didn't have a car for the wedding but I had toyed with the idea of hiring an Aston Martin for the honeymoon trip.

Fahk Me How Much?! Four figures a day.

so I polished up the Cosworth.

After the ceremony, while the new Mrs got changed I went to fill up the Cosworth where it helpfully pissed petrol all over the forecourt. Bumhats.

So off we went in a 10 year old Octavia estate.

Class.

Billy has a nice new blue Punto up for sale, and another chap has an upside down Frontera for sale, may be handy for the bumpy road?

Pre-War Rolls. Nothing phases them. Or theP4 suggestion. DS420 full of filler? Lamborghini Cheetah.

any French car made before the 1980s can cope with a farm track

I've shown her some photos of P4's and she likes them but then I showed her a pretty war rolls and I think that's what we'll be looking for. Just need to find who hires them now. It will be doing about 60 miles in the day so will need to make sure we leave plenty of time!

Some companies may not drive a farm track in a pre war Rolls.

Big doors for big dress. Shiny and modern (2009-ish new enough?). Available in white. Fantastic suspension on rough roads. Classic appeal for the shite-ist in you. Only one option - Hindustan Ambassador.

When I got married people were wanting a couple of hundred for a mornings work with a rolls or whatever. My mate did the decent thing, being car less at the time, invested £500 in a 1996 Jaguar XJ6 4.0. Good idea?

A shame I haven't met the right lady to get married to yet, as I would have ALL THE CARS there and it would be quite an impressive sight.

I would say you could have my Rolls but the fuel consumption you would be looking at a couple of hundred to get to Leicester and back from here. I have been told that if I wanted to do weddings they usually charge £200+ for a morning for a local one.

As it's a country reception why not theme it country, i would suggest a pony and trap, but unless it's a royal standard fully sprung coach and four, taking your new bride up a track in a trap might not be appreciated.

I suggest a standard Range Rover (any year) would take some beating for this, one on proper wheels not effin 20" monstrosities in the right colour and trim they exude quiet class and will iron out the bumps.

We've just been chatting about it and came up to the same conclusion. A range Rover. Now, maybe I can justify buying one for a few months then selling on, mmm, there's a thought!
