Sierra 2.0iS

Got the chance of this yesterday. A Sierra 2.0iS of which there must only be single figure survivors left.

Been laid up since 05 but didn't look like it needed much beyond a general tidy, some minor welding and a new battery tray.

Annoyingly " the seats were mint mate but a rat has been at them "

I offered a probably insulting 200 quid. He said he'd take 550. Worth having?

Sporty, rare old school Ford? Sir would be mad not to.

550 is a barg, I reckon a typical OSF racist would pay that just for the injected pinto

I had one of these back in around 1991 it was a 1986 D reg D985TFT.

Fucking terrible car.Great to see another,go get it. same colour as well.plastic wheel trims.

It pissed oil from the rear crank shaft oil seal, wing bubbled more that an cadbury's areo.

I'd forgotten how basic those iS' were, no sunroof, keep fit windows. Does it have PAS or central locking ? Looks like an L with 14" steels and a spoiler, it's got to be worth preserving as it's probably the only non fucked about one left. I've had a few single cam injection Granada's and they seemed to feel stronger than the Twin Cam GLS Sierras I've had, if not quite as fast, never tried a Pinto injection Sierra though.

It's a yes from me.

My boss had one that went on to be plated as a taxi by the next owner and must have done 5 years service.

Looked great in black, went like stink and for some reason had terrible headlights.

Can't remember the last time I saw one. With the price of 3door Cosworths off the mental scale, Sapphire Cosworths going up by the day, I can see this being worth a fair few quid one day.

I had a black one in 1997, D363NOC iirc. As rotten as a fucking pear but it went like stink and gripped like a bastard - great fun to drive.

If it's not ratfucked with rust* it might be worth £550.

A rare old beast that.

Buy it, put it away, work on it when you can over the next year or two then sell it to a scene maniac and retire on the proceeds.

Save it!

The 2.0iS is my favourite Sierra of all, largely due to it looking and sounding so brilliant in the 1986 Ford Cars brochure and the fact that Jill Gascoine drove one in C.A.T.S. Eyes :)

Buy it and make a mould to start making replacement high-spec Sierra front bumpers. Lazerwheels could be your first customer.

I loved that this and the GLSi were in the same Ford brochure at the same time, with virtually identical spec. Also, these must be among the rarest placca trims of all time.

I used to love them but it's been so long since I've seen one I thought I'd imagined them. I'd be all over that. It's got a Scottish reg too so when you're bored with it I'll bring it home :)

Edit: I see you are in The Volvo Gods Country already.

It's still in Scotland as am I! Annoyingly I don't have a lot of spare cash this month so at 550 is be on the beans for a while.

If I didn't have a Fusion clogging up the driveway until the V5 arrives and I can flog it AND could weld I'd be on that like a tramp eating mince.

I want to say yes but I reckon that is going to need quite a bit of work. Offer him £400.

Assuming that is not completely rotten - and to be fair it looks pretty tidy in those pics - I reckon that is a damn good price especially if you can knock him down a bit. As Bo11 said it's probably worth that just for the engine. Can't see you losing any money on it.

Posted

Have to say if that were local to me I'd buy that.

Posted

All cleaned up with a ticket it's a £1500 car all day long, maybe more depending on history and mileage. You need to buy it.

That looks amazingly like the Sierra my English teacher drove from 1999 until I left high school around 2005...

Posted

What's not to like, anything around £500 would be a steal surely. Looking forward to seeing this get recommissioned.

not really sure about that, i bought an injected pinto on the gay bay for £87 and a standard 2 litre for £106 they are still available just now.  having said that I would pay five hunna for it without batting an eyelid although I am more a fan of the saloon.

would have that. must be fooking rare....

how many lef checK?  says 5 left.

I had use of one for a couple of months in 1989. Truly a great car.

If they were still making the professionals in the mid 80's, then Ray Doyle would have driven one of these.

I agree with the others. Try and knock him down a bit but it looks a tidy car for that money. Buy it or you may regret it later. Will only go up in value due to it's rarity.

Got to say mate if all else fails its easily worth around that in parts, think of it this way pinto injection, wiring etc and type 9box then you get on to the things that have cosworth tax eg fogs and indicators, high spec headlamps, wiper scuttle, then there's body parts, wings doors etc, that doesn't look in bad shape from the pictures, if it doesn't need a lot it's got to be worth buying at around 400-500

Posted

If it was near me i would just pay the £550 and take it home  , its a no loose car at the price

Nice, buy it. Must be a late mark1 as well as dad had a Mk2 on a d plate. Those wheel trims are the best ever  :-D

Just looking at the photos of the car again,I was 21 when I had mine a lot of car for a 21 year old back in 91.

Just go get it man.
