Nice!

That does look really good, even though it's not finished. Such a nice period colour combo too.

Very nice!

Is the cracked plate being replaced (from DMB)?

Correct I think he is away as there is a 3 week wait so I stuck the old one on for now, it's worth the wait though as I love the dealer markings on the plates a small but very nice detail.

How on earth have I managed to miss this completely for the last few months?

Absolutely fabulous work!

Love this! Thread and car. Great spec/colour combo and you're a hero for running this and the Victor as your dailies.

Just goes to show what's possible - inspiring/dangerous stuff.

I've never really understood the poor reputation that these seemed to get.

Granted, that's some pretty quirky styling, but I seem to remember them being fairly usable cars before they all vanished.

I keep chipping away at the last few jobs and hopefully will take it for an mot next week.

There have been some delays with the trimmer and now I am waiting for the window fitter some time next week.

Starting to look like a complete car again though.

Fantastic-friends father had a 2200HLS in this colour a couple of years old-would go round corners as if on rails-and used to pop along.

Cannot wait to see it finished!

First class workmanship. May it repay you with many happy miles.

That's a fabulous interior!

I was surprised that the vynal vinal vanly  roof covering starts on the A pillar.

Lovely job so far, moar pictures please.

Great to see decent fabrication and welding to keep this one tip top. I can understand the principle of wanting to drive it in all weathers, but after the work you've gone to, I think you're barmy! Buy a few hundred £ snotter which can be dissolved by the road salt whilst the Princess remains solid ;)

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

It will be driven all year although I am soon to move and it will be garaged when not in use and my annual mileage will fall as I will be working from home.

This has to be better than using my current Victor everyday and it is having to be parked outside and it is almost totally original and has never been welded so will enjoy a break from its daily duties.

The whole reason for this purchase was it is a restored car and can always be repaired again if needed rather than deteriate a low mileage original car. Oh and it's a Princess with an auto box and PAS so should be a much more relaxed drive.

This is definitely not "a car for Mr Average!" Fantastic job you've done on this! Totally wedgetastic.

The windows are all fitted now so only had 2 jobs to complete today fitting new front flexi brake hoses and fitting a nos radiator and new hoses. Once these are done it can be mot'd with just a couple of small trim pieces left to do.

The new flexi hoses went on quickly but when I came to bleed the brakes the bleed nipples were all blocked so that meant a 1 ½ hour drive round to buy some, then the brakes bled easily with no air but the pedal was soft so after an hour of getting nowhere I decided to fit the radioator and hoses which was very simple.

This was followed by more getting nowhere with the brakes even though no air appeared in the withdrawn fluid using both my easibleed tool and my mitivac just as I was about to leave for the evening I noticed a third bleed nipple on the back of the caliper, ffs 3 bleed nipples on each front caliper so now I need to buy some more before trying again.

A complete change of fortune today with the Princess after fitting the extra 2 bleed nipples the brakes bleed through in less than 5 minutes, so I rang my local MOT station who had just had a cancelation, the car was quickly taken round and soon had a fresh mot with no advisories.

I will get it taxed tomorrow then have some fun, still a few bits of trim to finish and the bonnet requires another polish but im now very happy.

Well done on the MOT, hardly surprising there were no advisories, the things immaculate!

Winner! Lots of love on the beige for the BL wedge. People have been moaning that this place isn't what it used to be. Come off it, we have the Holy Grey Grille, the VDP Allegro, last Ambassador, blue Mk1 Cav of loveliness, and this as well! Top work :)

A very well deserved clean sheet there.  Looking forward to seeing snaps of this out and about doing its thing.

Takes me back a bit. Used to have one in same colour, but not as nice obviously.

Couldn't understand their bad reputation, lovely car to drive.

Then the gear lever started revolving, so welded a lug on it.

Timing  belt went due to oil leak and bent two valves, so fixed that.

Hydrolastic pipe failed, drove a long way home with a severe list and some bumping and scraping. All happened within a fortnight, so fixed that and sold it.

One month later saw it on top of the pile in the local scrapyard.

Been finishing a few bits on the car and sorting out the rad fan which failed on its second outing, but all seems well now and I have had a few runs out without issue including a 20 mile round trip on the motorway.

So now I have finally brought the car home to be put into daily use for a while to ensure there are no more problems as the car has been stood for many years. I still have some small jobs left to complete and hopefully I will get these sorted next week.
