Anyone fancy this? I paid too much considering it's a bit of a heap, but atleast it now sports the correct trimz. And the gold plus beige interior is rather alluring. The MoT is until mid-June, it has two new Falkens on the front, and I'm in the process of sorting out an intermittent misfire/missing a beat thing. I've got new plugs and leads to put on tonight so hopefully that'll sort it. There's a graunching noise under acceleration, so that will need investigating, but it steers and stops fine. Body is shite, there's loads of lacquer peel on the front wings and elsewhere, plus some ropey sill and rear arch repairs. The ignition barrel also sticks a bit which makes quick getaways difficult.

Edit: it's a 1.7 giffermatic.

So in summary, it's a bit shit, but could do a turn for someone (if I manage to sort the misfire out).

Only got one pic, so will add some of the interior later.

New spark plugs tonight seems to have cured the rough running. The old ones were ancient and poorly gapped so no wonder. The old thing is actually quite good fun to drive, nippy and chuckable around town, so I was being a bit harsh earlier calling it a heap. Well, it is a bit rough but drives fine for a 200 quid motah!

I'd do a raffle, but don't want to be responsible for Andy cms206 losing his genitals.

So, where was this when I was looking for an interesting auto then, eh? Eh?

That looks like a bit of alright, actually.  I'll ask my mate who's currently borrowing my Yeti how he feels about Volvo 440s.  (Though I fear I can guess the answer, so don't hold your breath.)

Posted

Is it really a Volvo?

I'd have thought it's more like a DAF/Renno?

Worth £200 of anyone's money. I would buy it if I needed a cheap runaround.

I'm finding it difficult to resist temptation here ...

John, you still interested in the Toledo? Did you manage to sort out any space?

I will PM you now Ken - thought I had responded !

This looks lovely especially for £200. I paid the same for a Montego which looks like it has been dragged out of a scrapyard with an interior which looks like it has staged the conception of half the population of the Cotswolds!

This is very tempting if I can clear some space!

I wish. If it was it'd be chock full of shite by now. The usual case of most people chasing the spaces in the lower deck, and leaving the top one for me. You get to see some great sunsets up there too.

Rob, seriously that looks so tempting. Sadly I don't have any money right now, but if I did, I reckon I'd buy that just because it's so cheap.

I lobbed this on carandclassic today for £250, but autoshite price is now £160. Form an orderly queue please....

*froths*  don't do that!  I'm supposed to be giving other people money and now I want to give it to you instead and I don't even need this car.

Crikey Rob. £160! I wish I knew someone for it.

Would if insurance wasn't literally 10x cost of car.

You can probably insure this on a classic policy for £peanuts.

This must be the cheapest way into top drawer giffer motoring. Had I not maxed out driveway space I'd be very tempted, or I'd find a way of wrestling the 416 off Robt_sr!
