Bugger....

Went to buy this today ( unseen )post-19511-0-38793000-1427572367_thumb.jpg

But the chap also had this beauty which I fell in love with and bought also :)

Always thought they were horrible looking things but i really like this one for some unfathomable reason

Perfect mechanically despite its looks

6 speed gearbox :)

Im so glad I have a yard to store it in as I`m sure my neighbours wouldn`t share my love of this beast

26 left according to howmanyleft!

I must be mad taking this on, we like some strange things in them there hills

Catsinthewelder came and saw it earlier but didn`t seem too excited by this example.......

anyone with local knowledge would be worried by the number plate, I hope it wasn`t one of honest Harolds specials and that he only sold the number plate.......post-19511-0-49560300-1427572651_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-98073400-1427572704_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-23805700-1427572755_thumb.jpg

Forgot to mention that it was so slippery where it came from that a Discovery was having problems but this car went straight out no probs :)

And talking of hills, this is the view from where my fleet is parked. The Merc should be on the road soon, I was just fitting a complete brand new exhaust system.  In 20 years of motoring I think this is a first, I`m so happy about this I just feel I should tell someone

Flippin 'eck.

I know you're new round here, but you must be on some sort of accelerated fast track scheme thingy.  This is the stuff of Autoshite royalty.

That Tercel is class, I did look to buy one a while ago, and after discovering they were getting rare the next one I saw for sale wasn't cheap, so it's probably worth spending a bit of time and money on.

It is bloody ace, I'm well jealous but was trying to hide it in case I accidentally bought it. Describing it to Ms C when I got home was "try crossing your Disco with my Cherry but in the condition that the VW was in when we got it".

Ah yes, DY14 0HE, that garage with loads of cars out front in Clee Hill near Ludlow, have to admit, I wasn't expecting that area to come under a 'DY' postcode.

is that the last TERCEL in the wild?

considering i thought that this tread would have been featuring some unpleasantness with some good ol' boys and squealing' like a pig, this has not been all that i feared it could be!

They look French, which is a bit odd for a RHD car.

ROI plates. Year identifier first. A recent thing.

Those Tercel wagons tick all the boxes for me, but their sudden scarcity probably means I've missed the boat.

Well jel.

Well thanks for all your enthusiasm!

To answer a few questions, the P6 is from Kilkenny. I think the story is that the owner had a holiday home in Ireland but it was cheaper to register it over there ( before it became tax exempt )  P6 will be up for sale, I don`t have time for both. Don`t all rush at once please...

Hopton Bank garage is I think the last place with DY postcode, after that its SY. But put a letter in the post saying Honest Harold, Clee Hill and it will get there....

If you are this way, please don`t mention incest or bestiality in the local pub. Locals get twitchy. Some from nervousness and others from arousal and guilt,

Anyway, have some more Tercel pornpost-19511-0-03019300-1427615724_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-89893600-1427615776_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-68163300-1427615824_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-42703600-1427615884_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-06139400-1427615990_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-11494800-1427616038_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-08235300-1427616158_thumb.jpg

ignore the zetec engine pics, the Tercel hasn`t been modified, I`m just crap with technology. Orignal engine in Tercel which is sweet as a nut at 179,000 miles

Gosh.  I assume you're good with the magic sparkle stick, then?  If not, you probably will be by the time you're done :-)

Can't wait for progress reports... what's the plan?

Yes I`m pretty good at bodywork but not spannering so this is a good project for me.

First job though will be a mop and polish followed by a good valet. That always makes me feel happier about cars

I'm sure I've seen that P6 when we were over in Ireland i the mid-2000s.  There can't be too many 72-plate Rover P6s in Ireland, can there?

I used to occasionally borrow a mate's Tercel when I lived in Germany in the early to mid-1990s. They're ace.

I don't recommend trying to load a football into the car by booting it in through the rear hatch, though. My mate did that with his... the ball hit the rear view mirror & shattered the windscreen.

Are you disappointed?

I suspect there are plenty more tucked away in farms about the place

Dudley was in Worcestershire back in the day..

Hopton Bank used to have a lot more crap lying around, I'll take some pics when I next pass/pop over to Ludlow etc. Ps Hello dodgy.

Hello red5 (Nigel Mansell fan?)

I wonder if that pinto engined Consul is still round the back? or the arrow series Hillman Minx?  Harold tried to sell me the Consul years ago as a `good solid old car`  Couldn`t get to it for brambles and nettles but could tell it was an unpleasant motor...

It polished up well apart from the handpainted bonnet.....
