Let’s Embarrass Each Other With Our Mopeds

I would like to get my bike licence but last time I enquired they wanted £700 for the complete coarse and exam.

Not unreasonable for an unexperienced rider. I think I paid that plus a CBT for about £150. If you choose a good riding school it's well worth the money.

It'll also improve your car driving as the course is SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY for the whole week; you'll do so much more thinking as a result.

Where I grew up in Munich, there was the constant Zündapp vs. Puch war. I was a proud Zündapp warrior, of course.

It was so popular among late 70s adolescent hormone carriers, that Bing carburetter jet sizing and such stuff was discussed in school yards, not footie results.

And it was always Zündapp vs. Puch. Together we pissed on Kreidlers and Herculeses.

I'm not quite loosing it - the intertwined letters are indeed SDP not JPS.

And Zundapp vs Puch is much more exotic than Fizzy vs AP's vs SS50's we had to put up with. Although my mates Garelli Tiger Cross made mincemeat of them all.

The beauty of owning one of these wonderful machines is that if you get bored/they break, you can just hide them away somewhere and come back to it at a later date, not like the constant depressing sight of a car on axle stands demanding that you fix it so that you can use it or sell it on.If it weren't for the fact that my Mrs insists I have a car,I would just have a fleet of peds, fun, cheap and almost carefree.

My old QT50 - a shaft driven dream. Bought locally from an eBay listing - it was owned by a guy who'd bought it from the first owner who had always garaged it and only clocked up a tiny mileage. The 2nd owner used it for commuting and it lived uncovered, outside. I stepped in at the right time - it was just 'on the turn'.

Stripped it down, repacked bearings, bought a S/S crankcase bolt set from the US (shares a mill with the kids fav the PW50), managed to order a NOS basket for the front from my local Yam dealer. Cracking bike! Ended selling it to a guy in London for £300!

A qt 50 ! A mate of mine had one as his first bike when he was 16 . My god we took the piss out of him so much. He only kept it for 3 months and got a ts50x . Good times

I bought a QT50 that wouldn't run and needed bits of work to make it mint when I was 15 it was a lovely looking little thing that was in good condition frame and accessories wise, i sorted it's problems and sold it through the local paper for a small profit

I have a 1984 Suzuki TS50x tucked away.  It needs a full rebuild and I wish I had time to do it!  Would love a chicken chaser for the summer :)

My little sis had one of these.......

Which I had to ride from Bedford to Luton a couple if times. Once to get bits for my LC and once to take it for a service.

It is a bloody long way with your knees under you chin. Quite a bit of piss taking from other road users too.

My mate had one of those as well, bloody awful bike. He did replace it with a 125 RG gamma though, that bike really did shift back in it's day so redeemed himself in the end.

My Simson S51. Over here mopeds are classified as bicycles. So no registration,no MOT, no tax. But you must insure it.

A Mobylette is available if you have a proper hankering! I have two dirty ones.

It'll bore you shitless as the course is BLAH BLAH BLAH for the whole week; you'll so much more condemn being patronised all the time as a result.

Here's one I found in a skip in Belgium with no papers or plate then used it in Belgium, Holland and France with a cardboard numberplate, bike was bungeeing ontop the fuel tank of my Frog registered HGV and used for impromptu transport during compulsory rest periods ie. shopping and random fishing trips.
