Sort of half-heartedly posting this as I want a Rover Metro. (Yes, I know - I'm ill.)

1984 Triumph Acclaim

1.3HLS 5 spd manual

54,000 miles.

MOT July.

Just service / oil changed.

Yes it has rust, yes it isn't perfect, but reliable and in decent condition.

Exhaust is a temporary side exit which isn't pretty and a little shouty but works ok. I was going to obtain a back section at some point as the original is jknackered.

Ignition still not on a key, but really doesn't bother me, but you may want to sort this.

I'd love to get back the £700 I paid for it, but I'm open to offers, including swaps for silly cars!

The first photo looks like a packet of B&H, it almost makes me want to take up smoking again looking at it.

I really want a small car again for teh LOLZ, or else a huge car (e.g. Volvo estate) to piss off the neighbours

The Acclaim is just too nice and friendly, even with its ASBO exhaust!

Possibly sold, pending collection / buyer backing out...

Was supposed to have been sold today, but got messed about. :(

It drives really nicely, even with 1000000 magazines in the [rear arches] it's quite lively.

Removing this from sale. Fed up with idiots.

Receive a message yesterday asking about car.

'Lost my license, looking for something to clean up while I'm off the road'
'What is the lowest you wil take?'

To be fair, these statements should have rang alarm bells.

After agreeing a price, the potential buyer agreed a collection time and I changed over the wheels as per his request.

The collection time got later and later, due to not being able to get a lift etc.

It then turned into the next morning, which I agreed to. The next day I received a message saying 'Morning fella my brothers going to be coming down to collect shortly ive give him and the lift all i have im now skint he has 450 for the car' - We had agreed £500.

I tell him no, I can't accept, and then tries 480. At this point I tell him to forget it and that the car is no longer for sale.

Now I'm getting abusive messages etc, calling me a 'timewasting c***' and that karma will get me, and that he has lost £100.

So, withdrawing from sale.

Tosser (him not you, obv).  This car is a wee sweetie thing and deserves better.

If you catch me at a weak moment later in the year when (hopefully) I have storage, I may be persuaded to take this off you.  Sorry I can't at the moment though.

Let him have it for £450 and if he drives off in it, phone the coppers. Then simply message him and say that karma called but got him instead.

Yeah, good plan, but he wasn't going to drive it. Plus no point starting a war when people know where you live.

What a pain in the arse. If only it was a Triomatic.

People* are dicks. £500 for this is a bargain. Love to see him get a Ford or VW of the same age and condition for anywhere near that price.

Sadly with me it's another one of those cars I would love but have no money, space or time for stuff I already have

What a dick. If people act like this you are right to just walk away if you don't actually need the money that bad.

This will sell but like anything slightly odd, it needs time. I wouldn't let this mouthbreather worry you.

^This.  Who could be arsed with drama over an old car?  If I have to send or receive more than 4 messages in the process of buying or selling a car, I know not to rely on the deal completing.

Some people just like talking.

What a flipping wally. Anyone who thinks it acceptable to negotiate via text message is, 99.9% of the time, an utter fucktard not worthy of attention.

That's why it's not worth putting your telephone number on Gumtree adverts. I always exchange a few emails with people first, as if (when) they turn out to be a flipping idiots you haven't wasted money on 'phone calls or text messages.

To be honest I prefer to receive a text first and I write that on the ad. Can't answer when I'm at work and the text message gives an idea of who you are dealing with.

Still struggling to see how someone says they are coming to get it for less than agreed had the gall to call you a timewaster.

How has he lost £100? Looks ace for £500 btw.

Probably on a Pay As You Go contract.  10p a text. x1000000.

Apparenty gave his brother or friend 100 to come get it, but considering when I told him to forget it, he said his bro had 'just left', somehow I doubt he wouldn't get his money back!

For clarity, and to potentially aid your position vis-a-vis cash on the hip, is this Triumph Acclaim actually still available or not?

I'm beyond caring, it isn't like I need the cash, or particularly want rid. If someone came and gave me cash for it, I'd just go out and purchase another old car. So short answer, yes it is still available, but no, I'm not trying to sell it.
