Giulietta

Mrs6C you need to look all the parts we have for it.

I need to find somebody to do the work as I don't think it is going to happen any time soon with our usual Alfa specialist.

Setting aside the servicing and smaller repairs the projects for 2020 include

1983 Alfa Giulietta

1971 BMW 3.0S

1974 Peugeot 504 Cabriolet

1973 Daimler Sovereign S1 Gearbox

1984 Lancia Trevi well maybe make a start???

I know the car cant get there due to his lack of space. But what about just the engine?

Was he going to through that and check it over? Is it carb or does it have an oddball fuel injection system that would require it to be in the car?  I cant remember when I last looked at it.

I think the engine it'self is basically ok, if I remember we did not have power to the coil.

The brakes also need overhauling. I am looking for somebody to take the complete car and return it running with MOTed rather than a full restoration job.

Your 504 looks absolutely resplendent even if it is missing lots of bits still. Arguably one of if not the prettiest car made by Peugeot. I look forward to seeing it back on the road.

The BMW looks pretty awesome too, I’ve always liked the look of the 60’s/70’s Beemers save the square headlamped 2000

Come the better weather, the Alfa needs a review of the body, mechanicals and electricals to see what's needed, then of the findings, what can be sorted out well enough in situ and what would be easier to give to someone else to do. A bit like the Xantia, really.

Hopefully the disco and my good ladys Jimny get through the MOTs okay in the next 2 weeks, so maybe if we have a dry Sunday near the end of January i could possible pop over and get the cx coil and air box bolted back on and assist doing a "to do" and parts list on the Alfa.

That Sony unit was working alright, though as it sat so far into the dash it was tricky to make sure the facia was pushed all the way on.    I believe it was standing for a while before the previous owner to me took it on; he fixed it up in a couple of weeks and was then offered a cheap RALLYE with similar issues, so he sold it to me after only two weeks.  He put the new Proxes on the front and a couple of part worns on the back which seemed to do fine for the kind of driving it encourages.

When I first got it it wouldn't idle at all - sticky IC stepper.  300 miles of commuting it eased up a bit, but I think the Doc had similar issues - it could probably benefit from being used a bit, or a new / cleaned motor.

It was only the first day I had it, was fine after that. Plus the radio worked fine for me.

Cars eh?

The Toyos on the front meant it stuck like glue, but the only issue was if you lifted off during a roundabout. I had to use opposite lock a couple of times. ?

Maybe I should plug it in again before I condemn it.

That's very kind of you. It would be great to get the CX running so it can move in and out of the barn. I want to move the hay around in there so my neighbout can get at it more easily and I can make some room for working on things in the dry. I'm busy on Saturdays in January and the first weekend and third Saturday in February, but am otherwise free in those months.

I have much better tools for ragging, that's what BMWs are for.

Anyway I have wanted a 306 Cab since 2011 when I did a Club Peugeot event and had to take my DS.

Those Guilettas are unusually complicated lil’ things.

i had 2 ( both lost in the big barn fire) , a bloggers 1800 & a race tuned, fully caged 2 litre. Even got a painting of the latter- done by a death row inmate, someplace)

I do recall them as being fragile, unnecessarily complicated ( more so, pre internet) & pretty ordinary to drive. Lovely sound, mind. Sounded real quick., just wasn’t.

I don’t recall serious rust ( concurrent with most Alfa’s of the era) but the brakes drove me nuts. . T’was always the detail..

I think, someplace I have manuals if needed?   It’ll cost you far more than it’ll ever be worth - but heh, who cares? It’s an Alfa!

Do you have a wiring diagram please?

The Doc keeps poking me with a sharp stick in his column that he has now got the AX11TZX! So I have had to remind myself I now have an even better AX, 1360cc engine MK1, even if it does not go right now!

I noticed that while my TRS is mid spec and not top spec TZX the only thing I can find missing is a rev counter. I have now found a 1988 price list and see why this TRS matches the TZX spec is because it has had all the options ticked.

£6229.17 AX14TRS

£150.74 Electric front windows & Central Locking

£119.60 Glass Sunroof

£122.10 Alloy Wheels

£134.55 Met Paint

£526.99 Total of factory options

£6756.16 Total cost of 14TRS and options

£6899.43 you could have bought an AX GT. That would have included the Electric front windows, central locking and alloy wheels that were cost extra options on the TRS

£254.15 you would have still had to pay extra for Sunroof and Met paint

£7153.58 Total for GT with met paint and sunroof

Here is the rub for £397.42 extra for the GT with options you would have got included:

85 bhp instead of 70 bhp engine

Tinted glass

Rear Spoiler

Front fog lights

Rev counter

Why did anybody buy an AX14TRS?
