danthecapriman Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Oh shit! I bet your gutted.Good that you managed to put it out before it got too bad though, hopefully it's saveable.
quicksilver Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Poor Oltcit! I do hope it can be saved as I can't imagine it being the easiest thing to get parts for although the engine is the same as a GS isn't it?
Asimo Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 What an arse of a thing to happen! Soon have it running again, heater box not required for mot or vital for summer only use. Anyway, I think the LNA looks great without the front bumper.
outlaw118 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 This is the kind of situation where we need a "dislike" or "Oh shit, bad one" button. Hope it's not too much of a PITA to fix.

GoGently Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I can't like this. Extremely Bad Lick Sir . Was it fuel or electrical ? I'm upset tooooooo as some clown has keyed the bonnet of my new ZX while it was parked at work! And I thought it was safe parking at my work security gates & cameras, apparently the Big Brother cameras are not working.
Six-cylinder Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 News from the fighting Front! Yesterday I visited the Oltcit and it looks worse than I remember. The only bright bit of news for it is I have made contact with someone who might have some spares. Today it has been fun in the field dodging the rain. In spite of the heavy rain showers we made progress on the Visa GT as we removed the fuel tank as a step closer to getting it welded. The Spitfire 6 received attention from quicksilver and dad refitting the cleaned and painted fuel tank. New clutch master cylinder fitted and bled. The engine was restarted and brakes freed up. In my time with the Spitfire 6 it got its first run under its own power this afternoon. The MG ZR has now spent 4 days in the field with no electricity, the equivalent of the naughty step for a car and has learnt its lesson and the immobilizer behaved perfectly today. Todays fettling was only given the green light this morning because of the poor weather forecast, I will try and give more notice of the next open field day in case anybody wants to come along and witness the events taking place. demag Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Ah, a Herald Coupé. My first ever car, mine was a 948cc twin carb "Clubman" model. Sebring Green over Arctic White or something like that. Apparently it was quite rare even then as most were 1250cc I think. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk Six-cylinder 1

demag Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Ah ok, I knew it was bigger than the engine in mine. Also the triangular side panels to the rear of the door windows had a sort of corrugated finish to them. I didn't keep it long, it was painfully slow even by 1970's standards and traded in against a trendy Ford Anglia. Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk
Six-cylinder Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 In 1994 we bought this tired 948cc Herald saloon, the first thing we did after collecting it was hop on the M25 to a TSSC meeting! eddyramrod, strangeangel, HMC and 3 others 6
HMC Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 ^ quite an early herald judging by the catchy reg and the handle on the top of the bonnet?
HMC Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Ps as well as hairnets Xantia spot, I'm calling the bond equipe convertible in the corner.
Six-cylinder Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 Ps as well as hairnets Xantia spot, I'm calling the bond equipe convertible in the corner. Yes I had a Xantia Sinker 1.8i LX, it was a new company car that I had for about 3 months from the end of 1994. The Bond Equipe was a project that I put back together and drove, I had it for 5 years 1991-1996 but I preferred my Vitesse I also had at that time. RobT, CGSB, HMC and 2 others 5
Six-cylinder Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 mk10 big fat jag too That one is not a MK10 but the very slightly updated 420G. It belonged to a friend who had nowhere to park it, so I looked after it for a year and had full use of it including a 500 mile trip to West Wales. Vince70, danthecapriman, Sudsprint and 4 others 7
anonymous user Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Your Bond looks very much like one which I had for a short while, I bought it but very rarely drove it. A new hood had been fitted (badly) and the wind up windows were badly fitting perspex so it only got used on a nice day. Still can't remember why I bought it, I think it was because I had missed out on something else. It did sound nice though.
hairnet Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 ????bought a two year old one in 96 and stared at it out the window for 11 years.......... Six-cylinder 1
Six-cylinder Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 bought a two year old one in 96 and stared at it out the window for 11 years.......... I think M135 PRO was the only sinker I had, the next one a 2.0i LX new in March 95, if remember correctly had anti sink values.
hairnet Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 L436KRO ours sold it in 2010 ish and its still going Six-cylinder 1
Six-cylinder Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 Where is a Range Rover when you want one, in the garage getting fixed! Tonight we needed to move our 2 ton boat across the yard where it is been stored so we can re pack the wheel bearings that are regularly run into water. The Xantia V6 has a broken tailgate glass and the Visa diesel is on SORN so tonight's move fell to the Alfa 156. The wild Italian stallion looks good, sounds great but struggled to pull the boat, that was because the wheels were locked. A bit of jerking back and forward loosened 3 and backing the brakes of on the 4th got it rolling free. Once free the Alfa manoeuvred the boat with ease. catsinthewelder, mat_the_cat, HMC and 3 others 6
Six-cylinder Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 It was. I'd love to save it and we have all the special tools for the Visa at work, here is an engine crane in my garage somewhere too. It is not about doing it, but the cost. Also I need parts for other Visas and braking it makes more sense to me. I have a good range of tools including an engine crane and we have recently put the engine back together on my LNA with is the same 1124cc suitcase. Sudsprint 1
ruffgeezer Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 What other parts do you need? I know of a very rusty one near Peterborough and we may stillhave some bits at work?
Six-cylinder Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 What other parts do you need? I know of a very rusty one near Peterborough and we may stillhave some bits at work? The floors to cut out to weld in my Visa GT. GT back exhaust box. A fuel tank. Ignition module. Nearside front plastic wheel arch if it is a diesel. There must be more! My friend has a Visa 11RE and his engine has been starved of oil and needs an engine. GoGently 1
Six-cylinder Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 The Visa Super E just needs the Visa fairies to fix it then I couldn't possible break it! ruffgeezer 1
