A long time a go he used to tell us stories of picking a manta up on the back of that and plodding his way across country, slowly. needs a fresh can of diesel and a battery, i bet it’ll run….. I’d love a stab at that. LightBulbFun 1
Dick Cheeseburger Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Are the Vauxhalls from the same fella as the burgundy estate which was Talboted?

dome Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Wow, what a view of win! If you need any trim bits for the Berlinetta let me know, I'm sure there'll be bits on the fleet that could help me in exchange, assuming some are breakers? What engine is the red one? Bear 1
Snake Charmer Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Was that diesel block used as a basis for the 2.4 Manta & Ascona 400 engines? Or am I thinking of something else? Bear 1

sutty2006 Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 2.3 diesel crank they used in the 400 block I think…….. 🤔 Snake Charmer 1
HMC Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I’m almost light headed with this influx of GM chod. Epic.

The cars were cleared out of a unit with the intent to scrap so care wasnt taken sadly. Luckily nothing was roof lifted tho Some are a sorry sight to see but the fate could have been much worse. they are in the right hands now. sutty2006, LightBulbFun, Snake Charmer and 1 other 3 1

Yes the red Carlton Club estate was part of the same collection. Talboted! It was more complicated than that as Andyrew also played a major part getting it back on the road and ianbmw was also involved. Dick Cheeseburger and LightBulbFun 2

It looks complete.
Andyrew Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Yeah it was all back up and running as far as i know. Last issue i recall tho a banjo bolt for the power steering pump leaking , crossed thread or something. Six-cylinder 1
Andyrew Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Hope those sexy gl caps are in the boot still. Ohh and it needs the little eather wire from the head to the alternator. I stole that off it that day we took the carlton estate for the MOT! Six-cylinder 1

A presumption on my part, a friend in Scotland is fond if the OHC engines in A Series, he would get complete cars from a scrappie he worked in.
sutty2006 Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 The 2.0i is the bestest Carlton engine in 4 banger form. The only 1.8 I had was a mk2 estate, but the mk3 definitely struggled with the 1.8 engine weight wise. Shame I don’t have many spares for Carltons anymore, else they’d all be getting boxed up right now!

I was simply one part of a team that took it from grotty, tatty and broken to reasonably pleasant, not bad looking and running. I doubt I would have been able to do as well as Andyrew did with the clearcoat repair.
