Renault Safrane 1997 2.5 executive

Really don't want to sell this but needs must... as a Rover GSDi came up for silly money....

1997 Safrane Hatchback 2.5 executive auto 124,000 odd miles for those in the know this is the volvo inline 5 so low mileage really. 160 bhp so trundles along nicely with sport and snow modes on the auto box. Along with the most comfy grey leather heated electric memory seats are two front airbags, electric windows, electric heated mirrors with the passenger side dropping so you can see the kerb when reverse is selected, electric sunroof, Two zone climate control with aircon, CD radio with steering wheel controls and a cover to hide it away. Steering mounted Cruise control. High level Radio, time and temp display. Computer with the usual fuel consumption gubbins. All readouts switchable between metric and imperial.

Paintwork is generally good although there is a scratch down the left hand doors where i caught a piece of wire in a hedge and a couple of rust spots. The small rubber front spoiler came loose so i removed it, I will put it in the boot.  It also gets some condensation inside in very wet conditions if the aircon is off.

I get 27mpg on my 8 mile each way daily commute and got 33mpg on my last 250 mile run. 30 mpg is the average for mixed driving. The car has never let me down or failed to start. I have fitted a new backbox and two tyres in the last year. The mot runs out on March 13th.

According to Howmanyleft there are only 136 of this model left and around 300 altogether so buy now before they all go.

 Looking for £350ono.

The car is located near Dorchester Dorset.

What a cracker. However it is a Renault with an autobox, so I would be spinning the roulette wheel.

Shit me. That is a cracking looking car and in my favourite spec. I reckon it'd be my transport had I not bought the Merc.

I quite liked my one of these.

Ha ha forgot the talking bit ... as i always have it turned off....

Looks well worth £350 to me.

I've often wondered how much hassle it'd be to fit a T5 lump into one of these.  It'd be completely pointless, but that's beside the, erm, point.

I'd imagine that you could collect points quite quickly with a T5 lump in there.

I don't understand why this is only £350, surely a typing error has been made?  That's BAGS of car for the cash.

Thats lovely, good colour, sumptuous armchairs.

Are the rust spots coming from behind/underneath or due to the mentioned scratch?

I shall be another person to point out how amazingly awesome this is, then fail to buy it. Sorry.

I would literally do this right in the face. But what would be the point in owning this, a Rover 75, and a Volvo 760 diesel???

'Box is an Aisin-Warner apparently and fairly reliable. Sexy motor in that colour. Used to be an earlier PRV engined version that stooged around Clapham area. Always fancied it's louche Frogginess.

No its just gone through the top coat and should be able to be sorted with a colour pen and a polish the scratch on the front door is similar but not as bad.

The rust is by where the spoiler attaches to the boot and around the rear wiper and is probably where the damp is getting in, there is a some light scratching there too i noticed in the pic.

On the bonnet... I am probably being over fussy but would rather point out its bad points as i dislike being told a car is perfect when it obviously isnt.

It is only a £350 ono car though.

So flog the 760?

Lush Renault, and I would, but I can't, sorry.  I imagine many of us are thinking exactly the same.

So flog the 760 to minimad, and let him stash it at your place for a bit.

Buy Safrane and WIN

Fixed that for you ;)

I have a phase 1 v6, awaiting recommissioning. Might be persuaded...

I'm interested, if it's still around in a few weeks. Right now, I've ferrous indigestion.
