Loosing the will to sell a car.

I've had this before, and it's actually so much grief trying to hold the deposit as usually not to be worth it. I stand to be corrected, but I think unless you can prove that you've actually lost money by holding it for X amount of time, then you can't keep the money.

There may be some clever jargon you can put on the receipt saying you'll keep the deposit if they don't collect within a certain time frame, and I suppose if you knew a storage company you could say the car was left there because the tax had expired and you wanted £5 a day or something, but even then I bet you'd have to tell them before they left the deposit. Like I say though, I stand to be corrected on that.

Sitting on my drive, I have a 1989 316 auto 2 door in JRG with steel wheels and trims- possibly the most AS BMW ever. The exceptional thing about it,is that it seems to be totally devoid of rust.

Initially bought by No1 daughter, she got bored of it after a year and as my plan to put a 328 engine and box in it seemed then as now about as likely as my plan to give up the pies and go to the gym,it was advertised.

First on the Blue Forum ,then E30 Zone- I think we put it up for about a grand( gotta love scene tax).

Three different people left a deposit on it over 4 months totalling £225- none was crass or rude enough to ask for it back when they couldn't go through with the sale for whatever reasons. I even offered one lad his £100 back because I felt guilty, but he insisted I keep it saying'A deals a deal'

Next year I'm going to put a 328.............

Any reasonable person would agree with that but this bunch seem like such a load of spunk trumpets it's probably easier to give them the deposit money and get on with your life than keep it and get hassled from now until the end of time.

Come back, get your hundred quid and fuck off.

I'm not trying to sound like Mystic Meg or anything and have been following this thread in total agreement that they will dick you about constantly but for some reason I've now got a strange feeling that the guy will turn up, pay up in full and drive away as good as gold.

Don't ask me why. its just a feeling he said as he prepares to be proved totally wrong and outed publicly as the worlds worst clairvoyant.

He will, if his wife is busy. His wife sounds like a mentalist that would object to paying full price for a five pound note.

If they don't turn up, don't mention the deposit. Text them and say because they didn't show, the car has been sold elsewhere.

If they chelp about the £100, I'd make them come and get it in cash. For no other reason than to piss them off.

I'm not a gambling man, but I am as judgmental as fuck, and I can't see this transaction going smoothly with what appears to be a pair of disgusting chavs involved.

So my 'found jammed in the handbrake 20p' is going on the chavs not turning up today (but kicking off when the car is eventually sold in e.g. January & demanding their £100 *holding deposit* back), turning up & trying to haggle the price down to £100 and half a licked Twix or otherwise inflicting some scum-o'.the-earth attitude on poor old Vince, who's only trying to sell a reasonable car at a bargain price.

We want half-hourly updates on progress (or lack thereof...) on this (non) deal. I'm on the first day of my Christmas break and this is better than Christmas day-time TV (mind you, that's not saying much...)

Pics or it did'nt happen.

Maybe we could start an "autoshite massive" where we go mob handed when somebody like Vince is getting grief to intimidate / destroy the mouthbreathing cnut who is trying to get summat for nowt.

A bit like the magnificent seven, just substitute the horses for wank old cars.

Can't disagree for a minute, they sound like an absolute nightmare who think they are doing the world a favour by breathing in and out but something is just saying they will turn up and pay up.

These feelings have proved less than accurate in the past as my local Bookmaker's Aston Martin will bear witness to.

I've taken the day off work, the heating's turned up, I've had a hearty breakfast and my laptop is fully charged.

I hope they turn up soon, coz I've been sat on the bog since 7.45am and I can't feel my legs.

His wife reminds me of the following joke:

What's bigamy? Having a wife too many.

What's monogamy? The same.

I wish we had the right to bear arms. It would solve a lot of the problems we see right there and then. Including the above mongtards.

Sorry for not updating you all on the sale of the A4 but I'm stuck at work at the moment so my father will be dealing with the sale..

My Dad just got a phone call and the guy is on his way over and I've got a suspicious feeling the deal will go through ok after all the guy has had a few days to find a better one for his money which won't happen.

Also it looks like the Mrs won't be with him, In some ways I'm hoping he did bring her along as I just know she would find a fault, then the sale would be off.

Also to rub salt in the wound my work colleagues keep looking up A4s and saying look at this one at double the price lol.

The bloke himself wasn't a bad guy and wasn't A Chav and he's got a bargain but I will keep you posted when I get back home if the sale goes through but I'm a bit more optimistic now.

But it's still watch this space.

This isn't how the story is meant to end. Can't you just make it up from now on?
