Oil price slide not seen at petrol pumps

I thought E85 completely buggered up absolutely everything in old cars. Is that wrong then?

That would be correct, sir.

I don't understand it nor claim to but all I know is that this morning I went for a ride out on bike with a few mates. Local station was 1.199 when I filled up at half ten,on way home I had to top up again and it was 1.229 at half five. 3p rise in 7 hours.

Posted

i.e. about 1.05 - 1.10.

I paid £1.17/litre this morning

With my Tesco Clubcard I paid £1.08 yesterday

 now it's around £1.20

£1.18 locally

Makes filling stations around me look expensive. Virtually every station within like 15-20 miles of where I live is 122.9 for unleaded at the moment, my mother reckons that they are all in on it and are fixing their prices, not sure how true that might be. I'm hoping a chippy friendly diesel comes up for sale nearby soon.

BP are loosing $150 MILLION / day at the moment.

You cant really blame the petrol companies for keeping the pump prices high to help reduce thier costs during slump in oil prices.

How much are you paying for soup though?

Today's prices in Watford are £1.16.9 for unleaded & £1.20.9 for diesel (per litre.) The price seems to be dropping daily and i can now drive to work for less then the off peak tube price! Amazing!

I would be interested to see where this figure comes from bearing in mind they made 23 billion last year.......after tax....

Oil companies are just marketing it wrong. I would happily pay £1.20 for a litre of 'million year old exploding dinosaur juice'.

Or market it like wine. Oh yes, the 900,000 bc Arabian was an excellent vintage....

They could give away stamps when you buy Exploding Dinosaur Juice, then let you swap batches of stamps for a specific prize chosen from a catalouge.

Would need a snappy name for the scheme though.

Like "Exploding Dinosaur Juice Gift Stamps Exchange Scheme"

And if it comes from fracking is it 'shaken, not stirred'?

Petrol prices are up and down all the time in the U.S...While we've been here they were steadily rising until a couple

of months ago. This time last year I was paying 4 bucks per gallon.....this morning it's under 3.

That's the only good thing about paying so much tax here in the UK. That does genuinely slow down fluctuations at the pump. Diesel is still 122.9 here in rural Wales. I opted not to fill the XM today. Given that it's a HUGE fuel tank, it really does start being a question of when do I actually fill it? Prices are going down all of the time, so there doesn't seem much sense to fill it now. Maybe next week. I keep telling myself.

120.9 in leafy surrey today. I had a 6p off per litre, so the family minibus has a full tank of diesel for the festive drive.

111.9 across the street at Morrisons today.

So I drove all the way to the BP further down the street and filled the RoD with expensive premium stuff for 123.9

With petrol this cheap, I might look into upgrading carburetion. Or buy another yank.

It's had a noticeable impact here.

Admittedly everything's 3.7:1 more noticeable due to the pumps operating in gallons but the last tankful I put in the Renault was $3.59/gal, two weeks later I'm driving past the same station and the prices have changed.

87 - 2.47

DIESEL - 3.09

That's a fair shift in prices and makes a noticeable difference.

That's E10 (R+M)/2 admittedly.

And yes, the E in the fuel destroyed all the old rubber components.

Paid 110.7 for unleaded today at Asbos, dizzler was 117.7, Shell up the road was 111.9/118.9. My local Tesco is still 115.9/122.9 though, robbing cunts

Yup, the ethanol sure does fuck stuff up, mainly small carb engines.

I'm running a 1500 Ram and recon to go through about 140 bucks per weak. I wait until the gauge is around quarter,

then put 60 bucks in ( prepay in kiosk ) and it's usually full or just under. Today I had to go back in for a few

bucks change cos I couldn't get it all in.

that happened in hull last week the supermarkets were 111 the bp and tex on the a63 115

It's, uh... let me get my shiteulator

66 cents a litre right now

Downside is that the dishwater they call fuel's so poor that if I put my foot down the car surges then dies off a bit as the preignition is so bad it's running the ignition very retarded, but the burn speed is really high. Result? Lots of noise, go nowhere..

I filled the van up at Stracathro on the A90 a couple of weeks ago and it was 152.9 a litre- I was using a fixed price fuel card. Nice and quiet though.

Ha, that reminds me of a road trip I did in NA in 2000. Stopped to fill up my rental Neon, and had to prepay. Tried to put 50 usd in but the lady behind the counter asked if I was paying for everyone. It took 15 iirc.

Why is Yank fuel so shite?

It has a lot to do with 10% ethanol. The stuff just seams to break the actual spirit down. To give an example:

Tried to start my back-up generator a few weeks ago. last used in 2012 power outage. Alright, the juice has been

in a couple of years but I don't consider that to be excessive. It wouldn't run at all. Removing the fuel cap,

the first thing is it stinks like turpentine......and a horrible cloudy yellow...like farm scrumpy. New fuel, it ran fine.

Back in England in November, I decided to see if Mrs Owdchinas MG would fire-up. It's stood in the garage for five years.

All engine fluids are OK, so out with the jump leads......First turn of the key, cranked over a couple of times and

it kicked up. No problem.

Yank petrol is just crap.
