NorfolkNWeigh Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Whilst it's probably pushing it to call it shite, I seem to remember that the supposedly cursed Little Bastard- the 550 Spyder that James Dean was killed in ,was used, complete with blood stains ,by California Highway Patrol to educate school kids on the danger of driving too fast. According to legend, parts off it were fitted to other cars, that went on to be involved in fatal accidents, it fell off trucks and eventually disappeared .
Lankytim Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I nearly forgot, my Dad bought an MGA back in the 60s. He bought it cheap from the owners father as his son had hit and killed a cyclist and then later hanged himself. it didn't bother him apparently.
DVee8 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I had a MK2 Capri 3.0 ghia that i bought from a mate in the early 90's. He wouldn't drive it any more. The story goes that he was driving around a 1 way system in Sunderland when a mentally disabled lady who had apparently gone walk about stepped out in front of him.She hit the n/s front wing, bonnet at which point he was breaking, she landed in a heap in the road. Unfortunately she later died from her injuries. The car was impounded by the police for investigation, found to be fine and returned. When i got the car the damage to the wing and bonnet wasn't that bad considering what had happened. Both repaired and a tin of Halfords finest signal orange rattle can. We were back on the road but my mate woudn't come any were near it.
Angrydicky Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Well I saw the Essex Boys Range Rover F424 NPE as the Ebay seller lived a few doors down from me and kept it in his garage. This was back in 2007-8ish, before it went on Ebay. Not sure what happened to it in the end.
Pillock Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I was once in a scrapyard in Shirebrook and found an Espace with the front of the passenger compartment splattered with blood and a head size hole bursting out through the screen. I don't know anyone died in there but it was a bit grim to just happen across it.
dollywobbler Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 As mentioned, ambulances have people die in them all the time. I'd quite happily still own one. I'd sleep in it too. But then I'm not a very spiritual person. Pretty sure a lot of people have died in my house too - it's almost 200 years old. I've already met the brother and sister who were born in this house.
Richard Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Last year somebody found some remains of the Lancaster that my grandfather died in, identified by the serial number. My father met them and came back with a bin bag full of bits. It was interesting to see, but a bit odd. fotorabia 1
cort16 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 It was quite common to have cars with blood splattered all over them in the body shop for repair back when my dad was a panel beater in the 80s. This was pre accident categorisation so anything could get put back on the road.
fordperv Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 We know a guy who worked for a large recovery firm who had to cut the folded bulkhead out of a newer civic after it had collided with an artic, to recover the previous deceased occupants feet

nigel bickle Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 There used to be a mid sized parachute plane parked up at Headcorn airfield, in Kent, a few years back. Tri-lander from memory. Parked in at an unusual jaunt, twixt apron & runway & never appearing to move, I asked about it -to be told that a parachutist had died, having been blown back into the prop. It was parked where the distraught pilot had landed and hadn't been moved since. Intimation was that it was there till it was scrapped. No idea if true or not -but it did seem bizarre that a serviceable plane was being left to moulder, almost in the way.

nigel bickle Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Nope not there anymore -was about the threshold of '03' (never ever used) from recall. The sheds are full of interesting old chod -with several knackered warbirds lying about. Its a lovely place, nice café if you're passing. it is the only place I've ever had to abort a landing because the llama's were bonking on the runway. Could hardly complete the circuit, for laughing saucedoctor, fotorabia and charlie2555 3

Always wanted to fly stuff but my eyesight was never good enough.
Twiggy Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I remember years ago, there was a Google Earth picture of the Lockerbie plane after the investigators had rebuilt it as well as they could. It was in a scrapyard somewhere - was it on here that I saw it or is my (failing) memory fooling me ? Twiggy 1

If you knew what to look for you could apparently see it from the carriageway that runs past. Twiggy 1
Lord Sterling Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Nope, it would be a new bulkhead or extensive strip/cut/weld job.Interesting. So I guess either the original F424 NPE Ranger had received an expensive cut 'n' weld job or after the original was baled (if it was baled) could the registration number have been bought as a private plate, or might it have been transferred off the original Ranger onto another one?
Lord Sterling Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Thats what I thought when I looked it up on a car check site, it comes back as a Vogue EFi rather than an SE. However I do remember checking a couple of years ago where it did come up as a Vogue SE. I do think however it wasn't the same car anyway.
nigel bickle Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 yes Jon. More into air than cars these days!
mercrocker Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 CAA obviously have different rules to VOSA/DVLA....Catalina that plunged into Southampton Water and took out the mayor was recovered and rebuilt at Lee on Solent. Still flying/floating
Wagon Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 A woman who worked at the same place as me in 1998 was out for a burn one Sunday on the back of her husbands bike. They had a crash. She broke a leg but he was killed. However, the bike was not written off and was repaired. She got one of their pals to sell it in a different part of the country. Understandably, she did not want to risk seeing it around. Also, a pal of me dads was taking his elderly mother out for a run in his 190E. She expired while sat in the passenger seat. They drove to a hospital where she was unloaded.
Richard Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Interesting, What's the story behind it? I'm a bit of a digger myself. My grandfather wasn't even with his own crew. PD319's navigator was ill so my grandfather's navigator stood in, and my grandfather went too because bomb aimers and navigators worked together. The two men who missed out on that raid were still alive a few years ago. The wreckage was found by forestry workers, who always take their findings to a local historian- I think they quite often come across stuff like that. A guy called Marc Hall was in touch with this historian and my dad when he was doing research for a book My grandfather is on the cover of the book, mostly hidden on the far left of the top picture. The panel is now in the museum at North Killingholme http://www.550squadronassociation.org.uk/pages/remembrance-sunday-2012.php michael t 1
CortinaDave Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Mate of mine bought a mk3 cortina 2000E that the previous owner had gassed himself in not long before. He got it really cheap because of this , seemingly the interior still stank of exhaust fumes. He drove it home, febreezed it and aired the interior for a bit then sold it on for mega profit neglecting to mention its grizly past to the new keeper. No shame! fotorabia and michael t 2
Lord Sterling Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Another strange one I read about - A few years ago I used to watch Moonlighting (starring Cybil Sheppard and that twatty unfunny Die-Hard "actor") there was a scene where die-hard twats character 'David' wrecked a BMW 635CSi in a carpark. The 635 to be wrecked in that scene was bought from an insurance company who were due to dispose of it anyway as a dead body had been found in the boot or something.

oldford Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Years ago I had to collect a rental MK 3 Escort from a local Police station. When I got back with it I was told that the renter had gassed herself in it. We then sent it on a one way hire to Heathrow after a quick wash and vacuum clean. fotorabia 1
CortinaDave Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Apparently you cant gas yourself in a modern car because they are too clean. You'd be sitting there for hours wondering why you weren't dead yet. You have to top yourself in something pre- cat. Maybe I could hire out the cortina to suicidal types for a fee (paid upfront obviously) Grundig, Paul Dupart, charlie2555 and 8 others 11
warren t claim Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Years ago I had to collect a rental MK 3 Escort from a local Police station. When I got back with it I was told that the renter had gassed herself in it. We then sent it on a one way hire to Heathrow after a quick wash and vacuum clean.I had to collect a former colleagues company Astra after he'd gassed himself in it. Certainly an unnerving journey. I regularly used to drive the truck involved in this accident, the boss just fixed the bent door and they were still using the unit until last year. The vehicle he died in wasn't his usual unit, I had the pleasure of being allocated that particular truck to cover his shift because he was dead. I can honestly say in all the time I drove his wagon I never as much as listened to his tapes or even used one of his pens.http://www.runcornandwidnesweeklynews.co.uk/news/runcorn-widnes-news/tony-schulze-chester-crushed-death-5884401
Lukas Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I guess I am too delicate... I think of selling the Mazda6 I bought 3 month ago because I know of 3 accidents the car was involved in when the former owner had it and I had an accident with it too after 2 1/2 month of ownership. Bad luck? Bad karma? Lukas
