Volksy
I've made the decision to bin off the Seicento after its developed a habit of turning into a 126 when it gets warm, The local specialist wants £45 + VAT to plug it in to see the fault, and then recon that its going to be a minimum of £100+ to see it right. As it was a freebie I really can't be bothered with it, and could do with something that is a) a bit bigger and Doesn't look like an Iced Jem.The specialist has offered me £100 for it as it is, so on the look out for something else.. Needs to be around £350-£400 max, MOT'd and pref a couple of months road rent too. No Fords or Vauxhalls though. Idealy I'd like a big auto estate, oh and preferably in the north of the country as with no running car at the mo it adds £100 on the price just to get there..I know i'm asking for the earth, but let me know if anyone has anything. Cheers fellow shiters!
Cavcraft
Are you on Retro-Rides? There's a seriously cheap Gallant estate on there, 2.0 auto 1999 for £350 with tax and test.
Owain-328i
Is this big and automatic enough for you??!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-VOLVO-760-GLE-AUTO-SILVER-PHOTOS-NOW-ADDED_W0QQitemZ130272705903 Get on it!
Volksy
Have emailed about the Volvo - would be a right roadtrip though.. 369 miles even!
Owain-328i
Top Man!! These are some of the best built cars ever. Volvos are far more capable of 300k+ miles than beemers and mercs etc. 200k seems to be the benchmark for most of the german stuff (which is still impressive) hwever i reckon Volvos can go further and last longer. Volksy
Aye, had a couple of Ovlovs before, A '92 480 Turbo and an 94' 850 20v (that I think is still somewhere in Torstens stable) both were well on their way to 200k, and neither (surprisingly with the 480) had had so much as the head off in all that time. So i'm certainly not worried about a high miler. They've not been in touch yet, but hopefully soon!
Milford Cubicle
I bought my old Saab off the seller's husband, the Volvo looked in pretty good nick then and sounded in good fettle. Ellon is bloody miles away from you though, it's quite a bit northwest of Aberdeen.Aren't those PRV engines supposed to be a bit rubbish?
Volksy
Sellers been in touch, £250 BIN, which seems a pretty fair price, sadly the train fare isn't, which bumps the whole thing way over budget. As much as i'd like it, I'm sure one more local will show up soon enough.
andrew e
Have checked the advance fares? go on the trainline.
M'coli
Try coaches - slower I know, but can be cheaper too.
Richard
You might be able to do it on Megabus for £1. You would have to ask them to collect you from Aberdeen or Inverness but £1!
Owain-328i
250 BIN, thats good as its a fair bit of t&t on the old tank. Surely megabus, and sellers can collect you in it at the bus station
