CortinaDave Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Had a wander into U Pull it this afternoon to grab a CD player for the cavalier. they usually have fairly average scrapyard fodder with the occasional interesting motor but at the moment theres a fair bit of interesting tat: This ovlov was for sale and looked really decent bar laquer peel on the bonnet. 1 owner and full leather too - the window sticker claimed 80k on the clock but the speedo's only reading 75K. One for the SVM? Seemingly they'll listen to decent offers on any of the for sale cars although ultimately if theres no interest in a month or so they get cubed. An XM!!!!!! Diesel!!!! Exclusive!!!!! Rear quarter on this had been painted properly badly, otherwise it looked saveable enough - also for sale. £495. Apologies for the terrible interior pic the doors were locked. This probe had only 55k apparently gen miles from new and same owner from day 1 to scrapyard. I know a lot hate these but Ive had a few and they're not a bad car. CortinaDave Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 These ones have no chance - they`re in the Breaker Parts section. Was really sad to see the Royale. First registered the week i was born. I googled the reg number and it came up as having been sold on ebay in 2011 for £675. How did we all miss that? what a bloody shame. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-1978-Gold-Vauxhall-Royale-KNS-660V-Automatic-car-Nice-example-/370567978965? cms206 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 That 740 isn't as tidy as it looks; SVM Scouts came, saw and walked away. richardthestag, CortinaDave, DVee8 and 1 other 4
CortinaDave Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Fair doos. just thought I'd flag it up
John F Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Shame to see those two pre-V grille Calibras in there, fairly rare beasts nowadays. Cavcraft and Minimad5 2
CortinaDave Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Inverkeithing, Fife. Found a topic on PH from 2012. looks like the Royale was in good shape then - and was back up for sale earlier this year. Shame if he just got pissed off and weighed it in: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1225834&mid=0&i=0&nmt=1979+vauxhall+royale+2%2E8+straight+6&mid=0
sierraman Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 The Volvo looks a bit expensive given its got no test. Even with the test you would be looking athf what they are asking for it surely?
vulgalour Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I'm curious about the rear bumper on that blue Xantia estate and whether it's side trims are not scuffed.
ruffgeezer Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 We have an estate down the field if you want me to go looking Mr.V.
Bren Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I wonder if that Royale is the one that was on ebay a few months back. Fairly sure it was in Scotland. Fairly sure it will get cubed - if there is not interest in a runner I cannot see a rush for parts.

vulgalour Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 That would be handy, Mr Geezer. I thought yours had bodycolour side strips instead of plain plastic ones though. Doesn't matter what colour the rear bumper is as long as it's got the unpainted black section, I'm not wanting to upgrade to full bodycolour trims, just replace the damaged ones like-for-like that are on the car. Probably cheaper to acquire said parts from you than it is from Upullit, and likely less hassle.
warren t claim Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 This isn't what I was expecting the address of the Royale's first owner to look like. HillmanImp, cms206, Lord Sterling and 5 others 8
dugong Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Could you find out if the cream leather interior in that GTV's in one piece please, and how much they'd want for it?
derskine Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 The Royale wasn't that bad I don't think, the guy wanted £300 for it but nobody bought it - though, he didn't seem to advertise it very well.I also saw that XM floating around inverkeithing a couple of times recently.
rml2345 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 The Royale is a bit tragic and the XM looks tempting but the Volvo is well salty. I've given up on Upullit though as they place seems to be run by feckless idiots. cms206 1
Minimad5 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Mhhm could do with a gearbox out of one of those Calibras. On that note - How much is (all VOXHALLZ R SHITE) one worth with a banjaxed box ?

Probably not much... you can still get tatty Calibras - especially later V-grille ones - for a few hundred quid. Tidy ones seem to be gaining in value though. Minimad5 1
RoadworkUK Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Has anybody noticed that Red Ford Probes with 24v engines suddenly look really nice? oldcars 1
nisfan Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 It was the royale i was looking to buy, fairly priced with loads of spares but i had/have too many projects on the go, he got rid as he needed to take his vx victor off the road and only has space for one car.
CortinaDave Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Shame he didn't advertise it a bit more widely. At a bit above scrap money I'd have bought it since its local and looked to rehome as and when C'est la vie. Can't save em all.
Bren Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 If it was closer and I did'nt have a garage full of SD1 I would have been on that royale like a tramp on a dropped kebab. Sadly, they do not have much of a following, I actually worry that one day they will be extinct, with only the monza and senator remaining as the "big six" cars. The royale is worth having for its fascia alone. Rocket88 1
gm Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 This might be of interest to some of you - upullits annual wheelbarrow weekend is this weekend - hire a wheelbarrow for £60, fetch your spanners and whatever you can fit in your barrow is yours to keep ! https://www.u-pull-it.co.uk/special-offers Now, what's the weather likely to be like in Fife this weekend ?
DodgyBastard Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Sounds better than it is in reality. Do you work for Upi or something?
AlabamaShrimp Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 There's a clip on you tube of two blokes with a C class in a wheelbarrow walking down the road....
Mr Livered Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I know a lot hate these but Ive had a few and they're not a bad car.I tend to think they're a great car when I've had a few, too.
