Suzuki Kizashi

1920px-2010_Suzuki_Kizashi_SE_5_--_03-13

Saw one of these today and thought this might be a rare car as I either hadn't seen one before (or recalled seeing one before - as it's a bit bland!) but's smart and almost modern looking.

A quick check on how many left reveals there's currently 325 on British roads

Did they ever work out what that was?

I remember that!

Wasn't it some 60s British (?) gullwing coupe that was pictured in a Ladybird book or something?  I still think of that now and would love to have known what it was, if anyone can find the thread.  Perhaps it was on here,

Posted

If it's the one I'm thinking of it's also a thread on Pistondirectors.com; the chinscratching continues although some loon has produced a virtual model of the thing and made a load of cgi renders of it from a variety of angles.

Didn't the Clio have a different name in Japan too?

Didn't the Clio have a different name in Japan too?

Indeed it did, as the Renault Lutecia. And the Opel / Vauxhall Corsa C was badged as the Vita, both due to the fact Clio & Corsa names was already registered by Honda & Toyota.

I am aware of the Chevrolet Volt/Vauxhall Ampera but I was surprised to pass a right-hand-drive Chevy Volt on the M25 the other day.

How about this one, so you live in Japan and want a Saxo.. No you need the the Citroen Chanson... ooohh errr..

Interesting that the steering wheel is on the wrong side for Japan. Is this done on purpose to make it stand out as exotic and unusual?

Posted

Maybe, at one time left hookers were all the rage in Japan to the extent that they officially imported US-built Preludes (or something) with 'Made in USA' badges on them.

If my head wasn't full of this shite then i would be able to remember the date of my nephews birthday which is my latest failure.

(Apologies for potato cam, windscreen in my mate’s Corolla was filthy)

The Focus cc is not that rare around here. A shame really as side on they are one of the worst proportioned cars imaginable.

UG Er Lee!

Have you seen a Colt CC?!

I said one of.

The trend for lashed up cc models seems to have faded away thankfully.

Focus, Mitsubishi, Micra, 307, all horrific to look at

Compare to a 306 cabriolet and see where it all went wrong.

Ok., this one is a bit of a one off  ..but I liked the look so I thought I'd share . .

Saab 9-3 Carlsson.

I thought that badge had disappeared a long time ago.  A mate told me it was sitting an auction I go to the odd time and I went up to take a look today.  Unfortunately it hadn't been half as cherished as it deserved.  They've got the 2.8 V6 Turbo producing 280bhp and four wheel drive.  YES PLEASE.

2010 so nearing the end of Saab.... bound to be the holy grail in years to come.

And the Zafira is a Subaru Traviq.

I saw a car in the background of a video that looked a bit like a Scion XB (which I had to look up the name of, familiar shape, forgettable name) with a load of plastic glued on.  I had a guess that it might be Chinese, and it is, the Great Wall Hover M2

This in turn led me to another car I'd never heard of that looks even more like a Scion XB, the Great Wall Cool Bear which is worth mentioning because it's such a brilliantly daft name for a car of any variety.

Presumably that big bite taken out of the rear plastic trim next to the fuel filler was a late design compromise.

I did know these existed as they were built in Spalding just down the road from me. What I didn't know was that they never built them as kit cars which I think justifies their inclusion here. Obviously an updated Elan, but apparently OK. They knocked out one a week, much like my good self.

Certainly not heard of that one before. Not to be confused with Evanta, Ant Antstead's sports car company!

And I've never heard of the Evanta or Ant Antson until now.

What's this? Did the Atlas have a bigger brother? I know its cab was tried as a Scammell mechanical horsey horse replacement but I've never seen anything as exciting or exotic as a Standard 20. Maybe its just a dream.

More Standard shite. Belgium (Imperia) built Vanguard Estate for when you prefer a scramble to gain entry to the rear seats. This vehicle wouldn't be top of my list for going on a cop shooting spree with two other hoodlums, but it was the perps choice in the Shepard's bush massacre.

I can't find a picture of the side, but believe it was originally a van with windows added later. The marque became distorted by a recent lazy author-

"The Vauxhall Vanguard car was quite quickly recovered by the police and closely examined for fingerprints..."

I've found this snappy advert for the Standard 20. Looks like they cunningly slipped in some extra panels to make the already bloated Atlas even bigger.
