Cars you didn't know existed until very recently.

Apologies if this has already been posted (couldn't be arsed to check 140 odd pages of this thread, but the Kiwi built Trekka (not the 4wd Kangoo) surely deserves a place here.

CUUUUTE! I absolutely love it, especially as it's such a blatant Land Rover rip off (albeit 2wd). It's like a little boy trying to convince people, he's a grown up. I AM A LAND ROVER, I AM!

Hubnut drove one in NZ on his channel.

Apparently, there was the brief flirtation with the idea of a Renault 14 coupe! Ligier were involved apparently.

That's an interesting design even by 1970s French standards.

I like the way they changed all the metalwork and glass but kept the rear light clusters.

That looks like some woeful kit car that should be sat under a taup on somebody's drive in a comical state of disrepair.

There's at least one in the UK, seen it at a show. You can buy a Matchbox version too.

Those Fiat Samanthas are such a pretty car,

IIRC back in the early ninetys one was spotted rotting away in the long stay car park at Alicante Airport. Think it was in the spotted/rust in peace section of 'Your Classic' magazine.

Never seen one of these before.
Golf Country.
4 wheel drive Volkswagen Golf.
Raised ride height, underbody protection, front and rear bull bars.
British registration but left-hand drive.
I think they all were as they were allegedly never sold over here.
Seen outside the industrial unit opposite where I work on 22/01/2018 then a few more times in the next week or so. Not seen again since.

Shamelessly knicked form the Bikeshite thread. Never seen or heard of this one before. It's a Honda Cub EZ90 but not the old grunter your slightly seedy uncle used to ride; that would have been a C90. The EZ90 was made between 1990 and 96; it was sold in the USA primarily aimed at the 'put it on the rack at the back of your motorhome market'.

Your uncle the day before yesterday - c'mon son sit on the back an' 'old on.

It looks like a generic ‘special edition’ Mk3 Golf yes? Well it’s not, it has 0 cylinders.
It’s an EV, limited run of next to bigger all, about 23hp and could just touch 60!

Only found out as Grampian Transport Museum just got the example pictured!

Oh I like these. Apparently by the mid 90s Ford and Volkswagen were struggling for market share in Brazil so they teamed up to use each others strengths. A sort of Arna / Cherry Europe situation.

Which is why you can get a Volkswagen Apollo. Yeah, it's an Orion.

Or how about a VW Pointer or Logus? Using the very latest in European technology, ie Mk5 Escort underpinnings.

Ford went bigger - the Versailles and the Royale were Santana based.

Those are so weird. Why didn't they just use their own IP instead of swapping...?

I'm reminded of the VW Hillman Hunter from Brazil. Which I'd really like one of.

Latin America seems to get all sorts of odd rebranded cars, South Africa has also had some semantic oddballs.
