Thought/suggetions, Shitefest 2015 or AS roadtrip

You are a star DW, I cannot offer anything constructive venue wise other than the hafod/ devils bridge was a brilliant one and I'd happily return. Plus The space and expanse of the hard standing was perfect. Also we had a quiet lane for chod testing purposes.

It was great last year, a new venue would be fun but a return to Devils Bridge would also be ace - either way, top marks to DW for making things happen.

While I agree a change in venue is generally a good thing, but  finding such a good (& cheap) venue is going to be hard. I like Devils Bridge, the hotel means I remain part of the event without having to leave the camping venue to find B&B.  So my vote is to set a date and book the venue booked before we end up doing nothing.

I didn't make it to Devil's Bridge last year due to being a useless twonk but I'd definitely be up for it this year.

Thinking about it, given how simple the camping methods of most Autoshiters are, there's no reason why we couldn't actually camp at both locations and have a bit of a Welsh tour. The original post did mention a desire for road-tripping. Could perhaps start in Llangollen and then head south. Llangollen is more easily accessible for a lot of folk as I believe you can most of the way there on these new-fangled dual carriageways.

Warp speed is possible, but not necessarily recommended. For your own safety, please consider whether your old crate is up to sustained high speed running before tackling a dual carriageway.

That sounds an ace idea! I'll report back on what it's like (if it's shit then little point), and I'm already planning a potential route down 8)

Sounds like a great idea to me - question is, will we be as lucky with the weather this year?

I'm not silly enough to pretend it'll be sunshine again, though it was scorching when Angry Dicky and chums visited later in the year! You're all going to think I'm making it up about the rain.

On the basis of this year so far, with today being the first dry day, then no.

You didn't see cats in the welder putting his tent up then.

Also, the hotel has a bar. I don't think it saw much use apart from when SambaS's mate stole a dog.

Devil's Bridge fest was utterly fab. Suggestions were made that us mentalists north of the wall did a Scotoshitefest but seeing as we all live in the town there's fuck all venues worth hosting it in.

I would be more than happy enough to go back to Devil's Bridge for it - I went back and stayed in the Hafod with the wife at the same time Angry Dicky's mates were there - and the roads around it were superb too.

Just a thought but if 50 of us fancy a weekend meet around Wales or the midlands and theres another 10 - 15 who are up for a weeks 1000 mile roadtrip could it be timed that the roadtrip finished up at the bigger meet?

You could meet in Yorkshire on a Saturday and spend a week heading up to the top of McVolvoland then convoy down to the land of sheep with the SVM on the Friday.

I'd love to do the full thing but I can't really see permission being given unless I let our lass do something three times as silly and expensive.

That isn't a no......

Devil's Bridge was a fantastic venue and brilliantly organised by Mr. Wobbler. Also, if they haven't got that Fiesta running we can bring some tools this time and get it going...

To be fair, as long as it's not in Tibet or something I'll be there.

If it was happening north of the border we could maybe see about hosting it at the mill.

I'd suggest a day trip to Autoshite heaven in Perthshire

A rake around an old scrapyard in Dunfermline too.

That's all North Wales, so Mat_the_cat's territory. Could be good though! We'll see what his campsite report comes back as.

Big fat fail today - museum is open March to October  But will fire off an email and see what they say..
