I'd love to swap this with the Meriva and surprise* SWMBO but I fear the fallout wont be pretty!

GLWS!

It apparently is not hugely desirable to attractive females. Or unattractive ones. Or most males.

Humph. Well. Your insults have ruled me out of this I'm afraid.

Posted

Correction. It is apparently only desirable to one female in the entire world.

CMS If only it was an etsate.

Bugger! Ahh well... MOT next month then I'll try it again!

If only it was an estate.

What you need is a Rover 600 estate.

parks Maestro van on the drive, acts innocent...

SWMBO: 'What the fuck is that piece of junk'

Me: 'The Kia, it's just suffering from middle aged spread love'

I just don't see that working

I'm not most males (I'm barely one) but it attracted me. Disappointed that the advert didn't read 'Van for sale £XXX, collection only from near the Broken Beacons, Wales'

Gawd knows. No history at all and the binnacle has been changed for an MG one at some point. Has 125k on it, but that doesn't mean anything at all.

However, the gearbox was new in 2008 and the engine was overhauled at the time. It's as good as an A-series gets - ie a bit of timing chain noise/tappets but it pulls really well. Bodywork is the main problem, but MOT is long enough to give time to get it properly sorted. There are still entire sills out there apparently. That'd be a big improvement.

It's a bloody brilliant van and would still be here if it weren't for the Kangoo.

Hmmm... need stuff out before stuff in. Swap for an 850 T5 with a slightly slipping clutch? (Running out of swaps... )

I'd prefer the Cavalier if it wasn't rusty! Though a Volvo 850 is on my list of future possibles. I blame Richard for this.

I already do. ;-) But that Espace is just perfect. I can't see the Rover as Auto Trader doesn't work on my phone. Doesn't really matter though as I'm unable to buy anything until the van is gone, and keeping it isn't the end of the world. Just thought I'd let it be known that it's available and that I'm window shopping.

pay me 600 to collect the van and the 400 for the espace and I'll run it down;)

I know what you mean- just on my usual perusal of crap under 5 ton and spotted them both

It seemed quite popular at the Ludlow spannering sesh, but the AS Midland Massiv may not be entirely representative...

Right. I've decided a figure of £400 would please me if someone's in the market for a fantastically shabby van. I've driven over 600 miles in it now and for a commercial vehicle, it's really not too bad. 40mpg seems to be pretty easy to achieve too.

A reminder - MOT April, tax Oct. V5 now present. No swapsies as I've decided I want a Rover 600.

Retro Rides has come up trumps again. Sold! Now I can really start the search for my next desire - a Rover 600.

It looks ok that one. Very much on my watch list. Has been for sale for a while.

An early one would be nice, but the Sirion proved that a modern needn't cost the earth to insure, and it keeps my NCD going. Can't decide what engine I want though. Diesels are impressively thrifty, but I really fancy an auto at the moment.

The only thing I will say is although the 600 is a lovely car to drive and very a sensible choice for you Ian  ;-) is that I've found them quite dull and boring to drive, but i guess it's an itch that you need to scratch.

Diesel auto?

Sadly not an option on the 600 I don't think.

Well, that is a concern. I really do need a decent long-mileage vehicle though, and the flipside is that good long distance vehicles almost NEED to be dull. I am also eyeing up the Accord Aerodeck on Retro-Rides. Could always put Rover badges on it like the Aussi-market Intergra.

What are you gonna use for carting crap about?

It's only a matter of time before Wobbler's back in a BX.

That was quick ! There seems to be a lot of really tidy 600s around for not a lot cash so hopefully you'll get something nice .
