Not sure what's happening there - but it's the main gate at Browns Lane. Sir John Egan 3rd from left.

Now all a housing estate. Nothing remains of this remarkable location which sent cars to win - on this Le Mans weekend - three times in the1950's.

Looks like Aldenham, my Dad had an old publicity film on DVD showing how a bus would be taken apart, refurbished & rebuilt.

John Gott trialling his aero HRG at Land’s End in 1949. Like other examples, the stiffness of the suspension overstressed the alloy Fox & Nicholl body, which was replaced with HRGs usual traditional 'tub ’n' wings' for the remainder of the car’s illustrious rally career.

There's dedication to the sport.. the marshal ..undoubtedly splattered in mud standing out in the rain in an otherwise barren field.   Hat's off to you Sir..

Sir John Egan - Peter is the actor no relation I think.

Sir John is 84 now and President of the Jaguar Drivers Club.

The XJS was a lovely car - well worth buying now.

Louis Zévaco’s short career as a manufacturer of his eponymous Chapuis Dornier-engined cyclecars came to a premature halt when he ran over an upholsterer outside the factory in Eaubonne in 1923.

Leicester, pretty obvious as the buses (AEC Renown with East Lancs body in the pic) always had the registration number plates above the driver's cab.
