2004 156 1.9 JTD Veloce Sportwagon

Miles: 135,000

Tax: end of June

Test: til 29th May. No advisories on last MoT

Selling on behalf of a colleague

Silver with black leather interior. Has been in current ownership since April, 2012, and in that time it's done 27,000 miles. Returns 50+ mpg no matter how it's driven.

Last year it had a comprehensive service at an Alfa dealer, who rebuilt and rebushed the entire front suspension and linkages. Also changed the cambelt, etc. Bills for this came to around £1600.

Bad points:

Offside headlamp has become slightly loose and will need securing

Driveshafts are beginning to get noisy and will probably need replacing soon

Intermittent EGR valve fault – Occasionally when under heavy acceleration it goes down on power and a warning light comes on. Apparently this would be solved by cleaning the EGR valve – not a huge job.

Paintwork is scuffed and there are small dents here and there. The rear bumper is the worst affected area for some reason. Driver's seat bolster is worn and split. It's generally a bit scruffy and needs a proper clean as it's been used as a hack and dog-carrier for a while now.

Don't expect a show car, but it's an honest, cheap old Alfa that should be good for another 100,000 miles if it's looked after.

Special shiter's discount price: £450 Ã‚£500 firm*. If there is no interest it's going on ebay and I would really prefer it if that didn't have to happen, because mongs.

Located in West Sussex / Surrey. Happy to meet people at a train station etc, I am a relatively normal bloke and there is usually a kettle on nearby. PM on here and I'll give you a number to ring if you want to have a chat about it.

*Apparently I got the price wrong but I refuse to take the blame for this. £500 is still pretty good though, right?

Just to say that 156 Sportwagons are GR12.   GLWTS.

Tempting. Half glad it's a little too far and beyond London. Anything else not working properly?

A lot of bang for your buck.

If somebody on here purchases this at least i will not be alone in respect of OMGEGRKAOS.

Provisionally sold pending collection!

That has to be the best result I've ever had when trying to flog something, wish I could repeat that with my own shit

Going to a good home too.

Not surprised that went quickly. Hyper cheap. They are a V nice motor, almost exactly the same as the one we had. Was tempted, alas, beaten to it.

Mrs Ratdat's 156 Sportwagen has been totally reliable since we've had it apart from popping a few sidelight and numberplate light bulbs. Way better car than I ever expected especially considering it's been clocking up an average of 20k a year so far. For a 1.8 petrol it's amazing on juice. Most of the time it's averaging above 40mpg. In summary: WIN WAGON.

Oh my. Why did this have to come up whilst I'm abroad. This would have been perfect for 10-hour South France-bound travels.

Much better looking than the saloon too I recon. What a bargwin. Who scored it then?

Didn't want the stupid alfa anyway.

Thinking of it, if this doesn't go, can I have second dibs?

I bought a 100k, '05 plate saloon version of this (really lovely car) two years ago for two bags, spent three months with it and then sold it on the bay for a £900 profit.

And then, get this; the bloke who bought it turned up, paid in full and then went away never to be heard from again.

What the fuck went wrong there?

He got sectioned?

I loved my Sportwagon. Sensational to look at and a dream to drive.

Expecting a suitable British Rail/bicycle/taxi/OMGITSRELIABLE write up of collection. Congratultions on your Alf-Alfa. They thrive on veg, it's said. Bizarre.
