I just caught the last few mins, the RX4 was very nice. Just watching car hoarders now.

The RX4 belongs to a friend. I think there was some filming of her actual face too, but I've no idea if it was shown as I don't have whatever channel this is on.

Anybody got any good links to see the new wheeler dealers, car sos etc etc for free online??

With Scrapheap challenge they uses to get the experts to submit plans in advance for what they wanted to build. If they weren't suitable they would hen be given a few goes to improve.

Then based on the plans they would plop some strategic bits round the scrap heap. In cases where they has steam boilers etc which needed safety checking this again was done all in advance.

Then once machines were built they were often taken apart and rebuilt/modified to be safe.

The teams did have to build it all in time but health and safety stuff could be done afterwards.

I'm mates with Bowser Munson from the first series, that one was reasoable honest but still had safety checks before anyone risked anything. I auditoned twice and never got on

After 2010 and some serious arguments the teams were given £500  budget and told to source stuff and they have a month to do it.

Lisa Rogers was a bit of alright and quite a "dorty burd" if you know what I mean

Ooh err....

Anyway. If you haven't watched Roadkill yet then do. Car guys doing car stuff. 29 episodes on youtube. Apart from the top gear Bhurma special I have watched nothing else car based in years.

Car SOS on the other hand was excellent as always, that Cortina looked the mutts nuts once finished and I always get a lump in my throat when they give the car back!

I watched this last night and did not really get it. You did not learn owt from it and Fuzz's 'acting' was appaling (why bother pretending to be surprised etc for obviously set up situations).

Its a bit like that film Fever Pitch. Its like its made for girls (romance, emotion, surprise and even storyline - ugh!) but disguised as a blokes programme with manly subject matter (HEAR ME ROAR!). It may as well have been presented by Cilla Black as the actual car content was minimal. I don't care to watch a 10 minute section about someone buying an exhaust, if I want to see someone pratting around in a shop I will pop down my local Aldi when its school lunchtime. You saw someone polishing the car, but what did they use to get such a good finish, are there any tips on how to get the most out of damaged paintwork? Fuck knows, lets get dressed up as an airman instead.

It was all what they did, none of how they did it.

That is mainstream TV for you...

Aimed at the lowest mentality (Strictly, The voice etc) and punctuated by worse adverts. I suspect that some of the programme participants hate the production methods also, but hey, it pays their bills. If enough people don't watch these things eventually they may get better. Sadly millions do watch them. So they will only get worse! IMHO.

Although how the TV ratings people know just how many viewers watch a programme remains a mystery. How do they know if just me watched, or if my gran and the entire ramblers club popped round?

Bring back Salvage Squad, I say. Knowledgeable restorers, Suggs and a wide variety of transport, all nicely done.

They did the Massey combine harvester right here in Rutland, I was sat next to it having a cuppa only a hour ago!

BECAUSE THE SHAPE-SHIFTING LIZARDS CAN READ YOUR THOUGHTS. MAKE YOUR HAT OUT OF A DOUBLE LAYER OF TINFOIL.

Anyhow, anyone remember 'Panic Mechanics'? Teams of 2 people (mates who were into cars) had to convert various vehicles into something else and complete a challenge. It was pretty good IIRC, one challenge was to get a Beetle though the front door of a house and out the back while it remained a driveable vehicle.

There was a similar series on more recently, they had to make cement mixers into boats in one episode.

"They had to make cement mixers into boats in one episode."

That way around is easy! Take the bowl thing off and sit in it. Making a cement mixer out of a boat would be more of a challenge. Pussies.

I don't know if they still do it that way but they used to have a relatively small number of people who reported their viewing habits and extrapolated the overall viewing figures from these reports.

Oh God no, why? Their idea of a 'no-nonsense' mechanic must be completely opposite to mine as I'm pretty sure everything that fat twat Bernie has ever said or done is nonsense. No doubt they'll find interesting new ways of fucking things up - my money's on them painting the Delorean

I remember it, I was somewhat surprised to see an old friend from my student days pop up on there as the military vehicle expert.  What a contrast to the 'Beast' Fiat X1/9 that he used to have.

Could be a good read, he's a very intelligent and interesting character from what I've heard.

I find his habit of tilting his head and looking at the camera sideways a little bit annoying. Quite a little bit, actually - almost on the scale of 'Nigella Lawson annoying'.

That's not to say that he should give a shit what I think, though!

In answer to what he's been doing; I'd suggest, obsessively arranging aerosol cans on his shelf so the logos all face the same way.

Did you ever see the early episode of Wheeler Dealers where he rattle canned the front wing of a Merc 260?

He genuinely looked disappointed when his DIY rattle can paint job looked crap.

He also uses spanners where he should use a ratchet.

Mmmm, probably best he has his hands cut off and fed to Jeremy Clarkson then.

Mike's an annoying knob, and Ed's reasonably forgettable. Together though, they made WD almost watchable. Without both of them on the same programme however, I find I automatically have no interest in either of their exploits.

Car SOS on the other hand... brilliant programme!
